  1. Watched latest BBC forecast, and they said that the Met Office had issued an amber warning during Monday evening into Tuesday for Eastern Scotland down to Suffolk. Can't see it on their website, maybe it will be coming soon.
  2. Horrible sleet here at 0.9c. It appears small features are popping up on models within 72 hours now, so some surprise snowfalls will be possible over the next week. I still think somewhere in Fife will be pasted. The very South-East is looking good as well.
  3. Latest BBC forecast said "rain and sleet at the coast", as if they were going to say 'but readily turning to snow inland.' Instead it was: "snow over the hills." Really will be down to nowcasting tomorrow; I have a feeling inland areas of Fife will do well tomorrow (watch out LS!). On another note, the Forth is doing a good job of moderating temperatures - a tropical 3.3c here.
  4. So, what was looking like a decent and not too marginal event for lowland Scotland tomorrow, is now a mostly high ground event with no accumulations at low levels. Suppose there will be a lot more opportunities over the coming week, but this Winter seems to have had a lot of these 'nearly' events. Mind you, if it changed so quickly in favour of sleet / rain, then maybe it could change back to favour snow.
  5. Ughhhh, this is so disappointing after all the build up. Hopefully the Met Office are completely wrong, as they seem to be going against most of the models, their own fax charts, and their regional forecasts. Here is the regional forecast for Central, Tayside & Fife for Sunday: Some dry and bright spells at first but very cold with temperatures struggling to rise much above freezing. Outbreaks of snow spreading from the west in the afternoon, prolonged later. Maximum temperature 3 °C.
  6. What's happened to the Met Office warnings? Snow warning has been removed for most of the country on Sunday, and replaced with an ice warning for light sleet and snow, with slight accumulations above 200m. I was expecting an upgrade to an amber warning or something? Link here: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=map&map=Warnings&zoom=6&lon=-4.50&lat=55.74&fcTime=1357992000
  7. Fax chart for Sunday night: No warm sector - two occluded fronts sweeping across 528 dam air. Snowtastic!
  8. Oohhhh getting excited now! Do you think there's some snow potential for me in Clackmannanshire? Hopefully some showers will make it up the Forth.
  9. ECM is a very, very snowy run for us. Whilst it may be quite disappointing for the South of England (as per some ridiculous posts on the MOD thread), -6c uppers, an active depression to our South, and South Easterly surface winds = bucket loads of snow!
  10. Very interesting weather coming up for sure. Would be brilliant if Ian F could provide any thoughts on snow potential for us.
  11. I seem to remember Chionomaniac forecasting a northerly for around Christmas? That would be a fantastic forecast if it came off. Both the ECM and GFS are forecasting heights to build in Northern Canada, and then extending to Greenland. I for one would much prefer a Greenland high at the moment, after all the drama with those failed easterlies.
  12. I know it will change a bit, but do you think there's any snow potential on this chart for us in Scotland?
  13. I'm so confused about what's going to happen tomorrow. Met Office's amber warning covers my area and one part says "At lower levels 2 or 3 cm is likely locally", but on the actual weather forecast for my location, there's only sleet and then heavy rain? Wasn't expecting much tomorrow, so the warning came as a big surprise!
  14. Some snow still lying here, probably on average about 3cm. Lightly raining now with a temperature of 1.0°c, but hopefully in any heavier showers there could be some snow.
  15. Snow very light here now, looks to be about 3-4cm deep! More precipitation coming from the west according to the radar, but whether it will fall as snow or sleet is very touch and go. After forecasting snow, then sleet, then snow, and finally rain and sleet here, the Met Office are now saying heavy snow until 6am!
  16. Snow getting quite sleety now, hope there's still some left when I wake up.
  17. Wow, snow extremely heavy and a thick covering now outside. The sky's that lovely colour of pink / orange it goes when it's filled with snow and it looks like a winter wonderland. Ahhhh... Temperature still going down, now at 0.6°c.
  18. Temperature rapidly falling! 0.8°c now!
  19. Really heavy snow here now - lying on all surfaces! Snow is very wet, possibly small amounts of rain mixed in, but not much.
  20. Temprature up to 1.4°c here now. Hope we don't get light drizzle / snizzle bringing up the temperature even more.
  21. Snow is so close I can almost smell it! C'mon!
  22. Temperature rapidly rising now, up to 1.0°c. Hope it stays steady now or anything that falls will be sleety here.
