Yep, got back on Thursday evening thanks. The last week was great for storms, got loads of photos and video which I'll dig out and post at some stage. Hope you had a good holiday! Looks like it has rained most days since I left and the schools broke up for summer, the grass was about a foot high when I got home which was great fun cutting...

On the last few nights we had some distant storms. The only video I got was it lighting up the night sky. Was a really fun trip as the twins are 18 now and a bit more silly if anything. My son thought it was funny to make blood curdling screams at inappropriate moments on rides!

Thanks @Kayemill, the flight was pretty smooth despite storms around at takeoff and landing (the clouds from the plane tail cam were pretty cool) . We also got through MCO in record time for us and we've been a lot. Some rain when we landed but not much. We'll be trying to stay away from the alligators 🤣

We went GLA-DUB-MCO this time so did pre clearance in Dublin. The new terminal at MCO is a bit strange when you walk through shops etc with people eating and drinking while you try to get your cases. Looks like storm chances down for the next few days then increasing later in the week. Some very HOT temperatures being forecast. 😎

  3. We’re at 23 now after a 34 day. Pouring with rain now after a lot of lightning on the way back home. Way too warm for me today. Will try to catch some of the lightning if I can. Inside it’s cool thanks to the ac. Islands of adventure tomorrow. Hoping it will be quiet as most Americans are very religious and may be at church. Yeah it’s a stretch!  We’ll go early and hope for the best.

seen this guy or girl in Celebration.

  4. Sorry I’ve not been on but it’s been crazy here in Florida. Wednesday, thunderstorms on arrival. Thursday, thunderstorms from very early afternoon through evening. Today we headed to Universal Orlando at 8am with the storms chasing us. Would have been really disappointing if we had not been before as all the outdoor attractions were closed due to the lightning. Seen some belters but as it’s our holiday that has to take priority over trying to catch it on film. Meant to calm down after tomorrow so looking good for @Ross B

The closest strike I ever had was actually in France, near Rouen about 15 yrs ago. We had borrowed my folks caravan and taken the two kids to France (wife was pregnant with the 3rd). We had massive storms one day as we sat in the campsite, as it had been well into the 30s for days. During one thunderstorm I nipped from the caravan into the awning to check it was holding up OK under torrential rain. Just at that there was a massive flash as lightning hit the fence behind the pitches a bit further along. I actually saw the lightning run along the post and wire fence, jumping gaps, and along behind our caravan. Unsurprisingly I scarpered back into the caravan in double quick time.

No damage done other than to my pride, but it did knock off the site electricity for a bit, and I reckon if the people in the tent next door had been in it at the time they had got even more of a shock. Maybe literally.

I'm pretty sure I've been there or seen the signs for Rouen as I used to visit PSA (Peugeot) in France through work. Can't remember exactly where it was but I used to fly to Beauvais then drive north to the plant. I used to have my Sat-Nav set up to Mooo! whenever I passed close to a Buffalo Grill. Loved that place.

Been a slight downward trend in terms of max temps as the week has gone on here, but today's high of 24.5C is still pretty impressive for mid June.

I lived in Orlando for nearly 3 years in the late 90s. June through Aug was pretty tough going, very hot and an almost gaurunteed storm mid to late afternoon every day. Saw some extremely impressive lightening shows though, but when the flash and bang start occurring with no discernable gap it gets a little worrying.

Yeah, the day the constant thunder and lightening happened at the Outback Steakhouse I was worried that my steak was overdone!!

  7. It's been our got to right from our Honeymoon through our kids being 18 today. As you say the cost of it is just silly now. Used to always be September we went, then changed to October once the kids were at school. We were meant to go in May but those pesky teacher strikes meant one of my daughters exams would have been while we were away. The change cost me an extra £1k.

Haha snap, haven't been since 2018 either, it's costing a fortune this time!  35c with high humidity, only slightly warmer than here now.... 🤣 There's a good chance we'll be in Florida  and there will be a few plumes with severe thunderstorms here, ah well, I would rather be off work in sun. Safe travels and hopefully we can get a few storms when we are over there 😀

Seen some belters in the past. One year we arrived it was horrendous. Couldn’t see turn off and ended up going way off track. I remember once we got to civilisation we were sitting in Outback Steakhouse on Formosa gardens blv with constant lightning. And I mean constant. My daughter was crying. Never been at this time of year before. We’ll see what happens!

There's a station near here on Weatherobs (thanks @dryfie) showing 29c 🥵 Looks like it'll cool down and get a bit more unsettled for early week which is great for a break, although I'm off to Florida at the end of next week. Was hoping for a lot of storms but they are having a drought...

I'm going next Wednesday! First time since 2018. Temp over there looks horrific.

  10. Weather station hit 29.1. Car was also showing 29. Heaviest bit just missed us. I’m in two minds with this one, I want it to happen but rather it didn’t for our dog. She has developed a fear of loud noises since someone was using an air cannon on a nearby farm to disperse birds. Lightning ain’t gonna go down well with her.
