  1. few more, its a great time of year to be out, all the shiny boats and hirers disappear and the waterways are free....
  2. The squall line is building intensity now from the South coast up towards Nottingham. I seem to be sheltered from the wind now it has shifted, but the rain is very heavy.
  3. one of the worse pics doing the rounds.... http://ow.ly/i/14rja
  4. one of my favourite London ones is the Chelsea tile co webcam, it was also the best view of the start of the jubilee pageant because it didn;t keep going over to someone baking a cake in hyde park or claire balding screaming at an umbrella http://www.thechelseatile.com/chelsea-river-thames-london-webcam.html
  5. thankyou , I had to stop the boat and took about 30 shots from the boat and bank, the mist and sun coming through the trees was ethereal.
  6. seeing as it's now Autumn, a couple I took while moving a boat last week.
  7. Gone, well, as a named storm anyway. REMNANTS OF NADINE DISCUSSION NUMBER 88 NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL AL142012 1100 AM AST THU OCT 04 2012 BYE BYE NADINE. 8. The GFS had her nailed on for us yesterday which was out of kilter with all the other predictions. I hink that whether she hits us or not, she will affect our weather for the next week or so.
  9. Seems amazing that the low came up as far as Newcastle, and turned West, dropping back down and is now centred between Plymouth and Exeter. Undecided like Mother Nadine. Bringing us back to mother, who by Sunday will be back in presicely the same position as when she had this baby!!!!
  10. Some people make the best of it surfing to work in Castleford http://www.bbc.co.uk...-leeds-19727594 The river I am on has only dropped 2" in the last 24 hours, it usually drops far faster than that, and there was no rain yesterday. there has also been a major breach of the Trent and Mersey canal at Dutton (near Preston Brook) just south of Manchester. I will post the link, and have requested the person to make it viewable by all. https://www.facebook...152134242365599 It is a big breach, and continuing to grow, the watefall at the other end is the canal level, It will be a long time before this is fixed. There is a 16 mile closure in place at present as more culverts are inspected..
  11. I have been sat seemingly 5-10 miles from the southeastern edge of that rain band all day, it has just streamed up towards Yorkshire and not managed to move East. The wind along the front has been very strong all day, there have been several trees down locally.
  12. They only empty the jar once a week at the airport......spoke to me ma n pa this morning, they are on North Shore and it hasn't stopped for 36 hours now, most side roads have standing water and the Wyre is in flood. The Blackpool result last night I blame entirely on the weather.
  13. I am in Sileby , North of Leicester today, and it has been raining here now for 24 hours. Just to the west of me I can see a very heavy precipitaion band (you can see it on the radar going NW to SE between Nottingham and Birmingham. I drove through it half an hour ago and it is VERY heavy. This line seems to be the pivot point.
  14. I was intending to travel up to Manchester (AShton) to pick up some solar panels and then watch the Blackpool game this evening.......... I think postponing both may be a good idea!!. The bulk of the rain has moved far west of where it was predicted to fall even 24 hours ago, the speed this system has developed at has been fascinating to watch since the first hints on here on Wednesday night. I'm off down to the marina now to loosen some ropes and get stuff off the banks, as by this time tommorow, they will be underwater.
  15. These are the flood sluices at Barrow on Soar, above Loughborough. The floods in may/june and early July cracked the concrete surrounds and moved the brickworks several inches. The solution was to close them off with plyboard and blue string. I dread to think what could happen if these get 100 mm of rain in the 3 mile stretch of river above here....
  16. The UKMet were for several days predicting a very different outcome to the majority of the models. the centre is bobbling around now, and doesn't seem to want to follow a direct route, stalling may give Isaac more time to strengthen, however, anything more than cat2 is unlikely.
  17. I am taking a chance and leaving my boat on the River Soar (on loose ropes) , I would normally head off to a canalised section but have seen my present mooring over the last three months floods and think I am pretty safe to stay. I do think there could be some exceptional weather tommorow, it is still 22C now, and there is not a breath of wind, once this low starts to stream in, it is going to suck lots of this moist warm air in and develop some interesting localised events.
  18. at last, I'm out of the NSC !!!! I had a near miss around 4pm, went south for a drive but no thunder.lightning. However, slightly later around 6 pm, the rumbles came and I got in the car and went hunting. The rain around Napton was immense, the lanes were like rivers and Priors Marston was flooded. I will stitch together a video later, but here are two panorama's of the storm from west, and then looking at what I had driven through to the east.
  19. one solitary strike just east of pershore.........come on.......this way pleease... I can see lots of brightness to the west of me so there will probably be time for the suns heat to produce more humidity before it drops too far.
  20. look at those lightning strikes kicking off in Lincolnshire, one minute nothing, then all hell lets loose!!!
  21. ah, after a morning where the first low passed over me with some "normal" rainfall, it looks like I am in line for the next batch eminating from Wales. No lightning strikes in it yet, but the sun briefly popped out about half an hour ago and you could smell the moisture in the air. Perhaps I will finally leave the NSC....
  22. The Olympicks torch has dragged wet weather around the country with it, everywhere it has gone it has rained. It has been intermittent drizzle, heavier showers this morning, and feels far too cold for anything exciting storm wise.
  23. still in the bloomin NSC , nothing att all yesterday, and I was in a yellow warned area, we sat out until midnight it was that nice. Will be North of Banbury later so hopefully finally relinquish my membership. The River Soar is abbout to overtop it's banks north of leicester, has risen almost 2 feet since yesterday on this stretch and still raining, but nowhere near the heavy stuff warned about. .. ah, Jessie J covered in mud.......who cares about the NSC...
  24. within the next hour, the marina road I am working at near Sileby will become submerged and I have loosened the ropes on several boats which were tied too tight and had started to be tilted alarmingly. The River Soar has risen 28" since 6am on this stretch, and that after no rain at all yesterday. Whilst there were some very heavy bursts early this morning, the rain/and drizzle has not seemed that heavy, however, it has been constant and drenching, with another few hours to come.
