  1. I was under PPT from 12pm according to the radar, it finally staretd snowing at 4pm.
  2. The radar is currently showing me under precipitation, however, nothing is falling and the sky is quite bright. Areas with no snow cove are bone dry.
  3. There seems to be a heightened amount of activity in the Pacific, is this unusual??
  4. another one, sorry, bradgate park after a long day sledging
  5. Yes, it was one of those days where ypu just curled up on the sofa and kept warm............NOT. Leicester was bathed in horrible fog, you can see it on the lower photo, sometimes you just have to go and find that sunshine.....
  6. Yes, snow here since 3pm, now turning into BIG flakes, building depth quickly, front has slowed since the two fronts merged on the sat. Looks like almost 1cm been dumped already in places here in the hour, took an affort to reverse into parking space. just goes to show whats wrong with our country if a car can't cope with 1cm snow.
  7. The first front seems to be struggling to move much further, the second front is starting to join it, this is when the real heavy precip bumps in. It will be interesting to see if it manages to go the whole hog and clear the SE later.....
  8. just finished insulating the houdini hatches on the roof and the first flakes are swirling in the breeze at shardlow near east midlands airport. It sounds like there is a testing day at Donnington Park race circuit, could be interesting up there if they carry on....
  9. How is the game looking today?? did you switch the undersoil heating on?? Tangerine comes in peace!!!
  10. there has been a bit of snow above the middle station, but marginal below that
  11. Conor, there is a VictorMeldrew on the SE Region discussions, are you one and the same.......
  12. problem is with most of these streamers, us that they can't be predicted, once they happen it is hey dude, and the models don't show it, quite often, you have to go to sat pics and raifall charts to see what might come. The models are not gospel when the eastern highs are in the control zone
  13. British Waterways are currently trying to fill two pounds in Herts to release boaters from a "No water" situation at Tring summit north of berkhamstead. Contrary to advice given(about temps), they are going to spend overnight trying to fill 2 miles of empty , frozen mud lined pounds with water. I would say that by 9am, they will have the largest iceberg this country has seen in years and will be able to sell skating tickets for months.
  14. at last, the met office has climbed off the shelf. The weather warnings have been unobtainable for the last hour, now http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_forecast_warnings.html we are geting some meat on the bones!!
  15. well ,I am suprised at you, not far south of you is the start of some real streaming activity from the wash eastwards. and looking at the met office sat pics, there is some serious ppt coming down through the north sea and being picked up bt the easterly.
  16. Only time Coventry looks decent is under a cover of snow...... about 30 ft of it.
  17. There is a lot more moisture coming down from the North sea, and the easterly seems to be driving it inland.....anyone checked the wind strengths coming off Holland,Belgium
  18. I have just driven up from Northampton, it was -4.5 at Billing aquadrome, as I came up the M1, the temp slowly rose, and cloud cover became apparent. By Leicester it was -2.5, and by the time I arrived back at Shardlow (south of Derby, trent valley) it was -0.5 with 80% thin cloud cover, with thicker clouds taking over. Last night the marina was iced by now, tonight, it is still fluid.the wind seems to be ESE. If the clouds and moisture dont fall away, I can see the Wash streamers coming inland, showers are just into Linconlshire at the mo.
  19. The Met Office has changed that update now, and added another yellow ice splodge to the warnings. They are basically pulling back from the milder conditions, saying a rain band will move through turning to snow and ice on the leading edge and may get stalled by the cold.
  20. not sure I am allowed to do this, but this was some one i know up in the lakes yesterday, shows some of the snow depths already therehttp://vimeo.com/35826914 some of the lakes vids he has posted in previous years are fantastic.
  21. suprised this squall line isn't showing up brighter, just crossing the Trent at Shardlow now, very intense with 1/2 inch of hail so far
  22. what are the square bar-codey like things lower down in the page, one for android, one for i-phone2 ???
  23. this is the coldest night so far. I live on the canal, and the ice hasn't formed across until at least midnight on previous evenings, tonight, it was across by 5.30pm. There have been plenty of boat movements all week, and the ice sheets are starting to top each other in areas of permanent shade...creating deeper ice levels. I went to Castle Donington an hour ago, and it was -3 in the valley.
