  1. Well every time I look at the MO forecast for Falkirk. It's changed. One minute we're getting heavy snow then next time I look it's sleet. It's very frustrating as I work in Edinburgh and hate driving in the snow (I'm Cornish so don't exactly have a lot of snow experience) and am still traumatised from my M9 experience in 2010 :) I'm hoping it snows so heavily I can't get the car out then I can just enjoy it.

Snow Idea. I wouldn't worry about the Falkirk sleet thing. The weather station they use is Grangemouth 30ft above see level! You are up in the braes where I am, at altitude 400ft plus. I never worry about what they say will happen in Falkirk, as far as I am concerned it's a sea level town and we are completely different in the wee towns higher up. Anywhere above Polmont will get snow.

  2. It's good it's moved back to 9am Wednesday. At least there is agreement the cold will dig in from the wee small hours of Wed. Just the boring non day tomorrow to get through. I think we might all get something out of this. We have had some snow but not what I would term real snow.

I reckon 4 :hi:  inches and above is proper snow!

  3. On another note I was infuriated hearing people talking about first signs of spring on Radio Scotland this morning. It's bloody January get a grip. Spring in Scotland doesn't come until mid March! The reason for the discussion was snow drops appearing. Again they are a winter flower and always appear at the end of Jan if there is no snow on the ground. It's nearly as annoying as seeing summer holiday adverts on Boxing day!

  4. Yep I am not getting too excited about Wed/Thurs yet! We have all been there before. Lets see how it pans out. Just wish we didn't have the Tuesday mild day getting in the way before the model watching starts! :cold:

  5. Temperatures on the rise even at 4000ft:

  6. Here is an interesting thought. We all love winter on here. But what is your favourite month and why?

Mine is actually October. I love the colours, the first hint of darker nights and the first frosts. It also fills me with anticipation of what winter will bring. It can often be the first month that the mountains get their first proper snowfall. People in my work think I am crazy for liking the dark evenings.

  7. Does anyone agree that there is snow potential for Friday evening and into Saturday. I realise it will be short lived but it would still be good. It's not really being suggested on the usual sites but on the models it shows potential. The good thing is the mountain forecast for next week looks below freezing at Munro level.

  8. Snowy I think you are correct. Friday is about average to mild,Saturday is colder, with snow potential. Sunday looks like the hairdryer day, and then it's back to cool with cold spells. It's not a disaster by any means.

  9. No chance of breakdown snow on Friday. However there is a 50/50 chance of lowland snow on Saturday. Realy boils down to the intensity of the showers. After that back on the roller coaster and mainly upland snow for a week at least.
