Horrible, horrible scary drive down the M9 to work in Edinburgh this morning. So many places where the water pools and forms small ponds, especially in the fast lane. It was a toss up between staying behind a massive lorry, spraying me liberally or risking an overtake and aquaplaning along in the fast lane, while being tailgated by a "special person" (i.e. someone far more important than me who needed to get past me so he could tailgate the car in front). I switched between the two techniques and managed not to kill myself or anyone else but it took me 1.30 to do what's normally a 40 min journey.
Rant over, did someone say it might snow on Saturday?
Don't get me started on bumper lickers. Yep usually 4 cars in front of me and I politely wait 3 car lengths behind. Mr 4*4 sits on your bumper expecting you to move. I maintain the gap and don't move. It's great watching their heads shake and eyes goggle. If they try and undertake I close the gap.

I've lowered my expectations for this winter. Instead of seeking a long 14 day cold spell. I will take the scraps of comfort from 1 day of snow then 4 days of rain. So this week some snow could fall on Wednesday evening. Then rain again on Friday. Then a cold late Friday and Saturday through to Sunday evening. so we could have 2 days of lying snow this weekend.
-
Aye pish the noo....Marginal snow event late Wed and certainly on Saturday morning. Something to look forward to.
-
Pib I think it's the cold uppers that will do the trick on Saturday. We had 6 days of sub zero last week and it rained due to the uppers being warm.
-
The brief colder spell Friday night to Sunday midday will be most welcome given this crap at the moment!

Is there? There was a very brief mention yesterday, but that's gone now with the latest release of charts...
Yes it was yesterday the chat about this. It seems to have been downgraded to a northerly with potential snow!
-
Much talk of a polar vortex on Friday/Saturday! This maybe similar to the storms that cut Arran off a few years back in March.
-
Don't say your glad it's mild Misty ...you will get a job at BBC Weather!

Naw same on way back...guy tailed me cause there were 4 cars in front of me doing 45! I ended up in front when they pulled off so I sped up to get away from the bumper licker. He then tried to race me the whole way to Blairgowrie! Crazy!

There's been 2 RTAs with deaths near here this month already, one of which was caused by racing at high speed. I was overtaken by cars on the A9 at very high speed the other morning in 50m visibility fog. People's utter stupidity when driving seems endless, and attitudes towards standards of maintenance casual, negligent and sometimes reckless.
Here's the mild pish now we've all been looking forward to.
Same yesterday on way to Glenshee. There is a bit where the road goes single track A93. A 4*4 who was up my bumper the whole way. Decided to overtake me, and I was forced on the grass! There were 4 cars in front of me and we were all doing 50 so not crawling. He only go past me and pulled in on front of me. I gave him hell. He arrived two spaces in front of in the car park. Arrogant idiots like that should get taken off the roads. Apologies to 4*4 drivers on here but some of them are Tos*ers! Must be an ego thing....can't be beaten by a wee Clio in front of the wife.

Good day at Glenshee. Snow came on later but turned to rain even at 3000ft! The ski centres are going to be decimated this weekend. Very thin cosmetic bases due to the mild November and December. On the lower slopes the centres will be starting all over again from the Heather by Next week.
Not expecting to be skiing again for 3 weeks at least.
-
Next week looks like the mild will win for the time being alas! After that lets be honest they haven't a clue. I Will take the forecasts week by week.
Off to Glenshee tomorrow decided to take the day off wok before the biblical floods come on Friday. Need my ski fix!
