  1. I think we are primed CB for some storms Posted Image

Indeed we are but I'm was expecting it to be a bit more 'intense' than this, so far it has been quite average. I can't complain as its been too long since our last proper thunderstorm/MCS. I watched the outflow this morning from the Benelux system and was a little jealous...

  2. Ahhh I see the channel of death is at work. Will the storm make it across?

No - it has lost a lot of lightning activity since leaving the French coast. The cells behind maybe of more interest. I had a look out to sea and most of it breaking up into other cloud types. Nothing more than brief thundery rain but seems to be stronger to its western side...please reinvograte!

  3. Just had a quick look out across the Channel - can see some brief lightning from that narrow band of cells moving NE. They seem to be moderate thundery showers. More cells seems to be firing up along the French coast in a perfect line into the Channel - a few good forks to keep going overight before that MCS or remains of it arrives quite close. It eastern flank seems interesting and it is moving quickly.

Quite warm even on the coast with hardly a breath of wind...

  4. Radar showing cell North of Colwyn Bay has fired up. Any sferics on this anyone? Looks likes its just cropped up out of the blue.

Looks like anaprop or radar deflection/reflection - seems to behave as such as no clear cell direction/distinction.

Haven't been on the forum hardly this year - I've not witnessed a thunderstorm so far....very odd. Maybe a chance within the next few days.

  5. The British shipping forecast has gale warning for all south west areas incl. the english channel,(Plymouth,Portland and Wight) storm force 10 and (edit ) severe gale force.

    eg. link http://www.metoffice...ml#All~Portland

That area also covers the Channel Islands and parts of NW France - these areas will have the strongest gusts along with the Western coast of France. I think the storm force 10 warning would refer to those areas.

  6. You can clearly see an empty circle over SW Cornwall on the latest rainfall radar - that's where the Low centre is roughly...there are winds gusting 90mph over NW France - Channel Islands getting a battering too

Strongest winds are always to the south of the centre...its southern flank

Also remember to find your nearest Low pressure stand with your back to the wind (from the direction its blowing) and its on your left ;)
