Sleety pish is what i would call it... the odd big flake mixed in.. and my app is now saying 16cm overnight so now i trust it even less... i have set my alarm for 6am to check and if there be snaw on the ground im waking the kids up and going out in it, might be the only chance i get this winter...
Maybe 4 hours of wet snow at most before the milder air takes over, still an outside chance of a flake or 2 on Xmas day evening, think by next week we should start seeing some nice model runs

You couldn't make it up after 4 days of fog thick drizzle and temps no higher than 9c we get a lovely warm morning now it's raining heavily in Aberdeen we might have reached the dizzy heights of 14c which felt tropical after all the crap we've had, still no sign of summer in the models

Many may will be aware of it than you think...
But let's keep this discussion on what what the models are showing. I don't disagree with you, But let's keep it on topic. I've certainly said enough myself without straying off the path to much... Have a good night all
Let's just enjoy some welcome dry weather for the next few days even if a thick jersey is required

Certainly has recent years, I don't think anyone knows the 'exact reason why/how just yet. But just for thought.. the climate is certainly changing
I'm sure the understandings of the role of the Hadley cell may help, it has more influence on our weather than many are aware of.

All depends on how far South the low goes.. let's see
A trapped low seems to be a common feature after winter around Portugal anyone know why?

The post from Summer Blizzard saves some from banging said head on any kind of wall, A 'cut off low' looks highly possible
Heat and storms for southern areas give me some prolonged dry weather up north Ive a, cricket square to look after

Using the sounding from Edinburgh Airport we see the instability increases from around 6pm through 3am which will spark the showers off which again could have thunder and with the dewpoint on the lower end some hail/wintry precip, that's a nice amount of CAPE for April and a decent LI value
There will also be a convergence zone developing through Fife which moves northwest and has a linear shower train along it
Great spot seems to be following that track

What happened to the high pressure that we were supposed to have next week? Getting tired of unsettled weather
It was a rather weak anomaly that showed sadly, little sign of anything settled appearing for 10days at least, are we still suffering the dying embers of the SSW? Changeable at best stormy midweek in parts temps around average, hopeful that the Azores high will start to show itself by months end and give us a good settled spell.
