Too cold for gardening here wind chill -2 no fun in that. It also depends on your age and health. The soil is too wet and cold to sow seeds outside, so I'm sticking to inside sowings and armchair gardening till it gets to feel like +7c. My toms and chillis are loving the sun from the safety of the south facing window, they've really perked up over the last 48 hours.- 810 replies

It was lovely to wake up to clear blue skies and a big yellow ball in the sky this morning, really lifts the spirits. I was at mums on the coast yesterday (new romney area) and in Sainsburys a tannoy announcement was made ' we would like to inform all customers and staff that a big yellow thing is in the sky, long may it stay!- 810 replies

Snowing here for a while, settled on everything except the roads and pavements. Seems to be mainly horizontal from the east. Off out to the theatre tonight so if it could stop by then I'd be grateful.- 782 replies

Having checked netweather, bbc, met office, weather outlook and metcheck I have a met office warning of london snow but rain in their forecast everyone else's along with an hour or 2 of sleet, which is a shame as it totals 14mm of rain. That would have been a lot of snow at one go for here.- 1,317 replies

January 2013 Cold Spell - How's it been for you ?
tadpole replied to ScottSnow's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
I had 4" of snow here which for south east london is good so I'm happy. Having lived in SE London since '62 I've seen a lot of winters and as gas is so high now I'm pleased to see just a little snow with out it going on and on these days. Those that hark back to times of heavier snow have either not experienced them before or have more money than me to spend heating my home. -
Very nice there, and about a mile from me.
-
That's not fair, I'm off Westwood hill so can't be far from you and I've got sleet and not much of it either.
-
Except for 20 mins of sleet I had, I'd say you're right.
-
My sleet has stopped, hope that wasn't it for the evening.
-
I've got sleet, lots of it but not what I was hoping for

I'm in London near Crystal Palace and met office say light snow 6pm to midnight for me.

On that note, if anyone is expecting a parcel by courier tomorrow in Croydon and surrounding areas, hubby will do his best but it depends on how good yamakin's gritting has been also remember that even if your 4 x 4 can get up it (as he's often told) vans can't so if you live at the top of a steep hill you will have to collect it from the bottom or the depot.
-
If I've got snow still then Bromley probably has too, but would love more heavy snow. I get the feeling this could be a late night and bags under the eyes tomorrow morning!
-
Still snowing here in SE26 so you must have snow still I would have thought, even if it's not 50p size ones.

Just back from duck feeding at Crystal Palace Park, looks beautiful. Snow much heavier now and roads just starting to get icy in places on the way back, as us and a few others were doing a slide dance. Snow depth on wheelie bin now 7.5cm- 892 replies
