  1. Thank you Summer Sun, average is fine with me and my potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, peas, etc etc
  2. So, not only do I have to read JP's weather reports before going to bed, I now have to find Jason's pic of the day! another great one thank you. And nice to see you back Jan, I feel less lonely in SE London now
  3. It is so nice to sit here and not wonder if the lead flashing will come off for a 3rd weekend in a row? yes it's a bit damp outside but it's very quiet.......bliss! Instead I'm wondering if the only snow I'll get will be while I'm away in next month?
  4. That is beautiful, one of the best pictures I've seen of one, and on my list of things to see before the zimmer frame beckons. On a local note, the sky is clear and I can see stars for a change, well as many as living in London allows.
  5. It did freeze in 1911 and 1936 apparently but other than frozen mist and the Canadian side edge bits that have frozen I can't find any news items about Niagara freezing this week.
  6. Plenty of buildings can be seen from the american side, not so many ,and none, if your get your shot right, from the Canadian side.
  7. Having seen it non frozen and gushing over, I'm amazed. Does look beautiful, but standing next to it and not hearing the roar must be odd.
  8. Is that gusty wind speed enough to lift the flashing on the roof for a 3rd time in a week JP?
  9. It's the proper stuff, put on 20 years ago and never budged 'till last weekend, neighbours also have the real stuff.
  10. 2nd weekend running the lead flashing has come up and soaked 2 rooms. Not going to be popular with the insurance company. Any way to find out what the highest guest was near me last night? 60% of the road had their flashing ripped up.
  11. Had enough of this windy weather. So far have had to have the roof repaired twice, 2 fence panels and 3 posts re done, remove a small tree that came down from elderly neighbours garden into ours. Hubby has refused to repair the other side fence panels that went with the last wind until this current windy period passes and the lawn has become a bog garden. I'm now ready to skip snow and move straight to some warm sunny days please
  12. It was when I joined a queue of 24 trolleys in Sainsburys that I wondered what I was doing with my life! The free quality street being handed out by staff helped pass the time as did chatting to other shoppers. I couldn't find anyone that knew there was a storm coming, some had heard heavy rain but nothing about the wind. Birds have given up trying to stay on the feeders, even the neighbours cat has stopped waiting for one to drop in it's mouth underneath and neighbours new fence panels will be gone by the end of the evening. I'm staying put now, warm and snug, 'till hubby gets back from a very wet & windy Croydon tonight.
  13. Thunder and lightening here too. Hubby just called from a warehouse near Ikea croydon and said heavy hailstones there.
  14. I'm very very soggy and my hair looks like I've plugged my finger into a socket! This is due to a long walk back from the car as it's in the next road. Back too late to get a parking spot near my home. One day I'll have osp.
  15. That's a lot more sensible than standing over it working you way through an assortment of swear words, unpluging it and sticking it near a radiator whilst still swearing at it and blaming anything/anyone who happened to be near me.
  16. Can't tell you how nice it is to be able to hit the Thanks button again on JP's forecasts. Useful tip; Don't spill a mug of tea over your router apparently it's the sticky sugar that causes the death of it. But better to have happened now than during a snowy period. Off to wade my way through 10 days worth of emails .
  17. CharltonKerry surely after all these years she has learned that you can't ask a man to do a woman's job! Doubt my hubby knows how to turn on the washing machine, oven or microwave and he can't close the curtains properly for some reason, always a gap at the top. Even when I left for work at 7.30am and got home at 8pm 5 days a week I did all the home stuff, it's quicker in the long run and I'm a bit of a control freak. He does boiler repairs, clears gutters, fixes the car and anything else that needs fixing etc. This year he built me a great shed, from scratch, not a kit. Just tell her you try to do things as good as she does but you can't you're a man!
  18. My mother must have told me hundreds of times how lucky it was that I was born early, even though she needed to stay in due to complications as it meant we were home just before it all kicked off. The neighbours were helpful providing extra coal for my young parents and me who had moved into the living room to cut down on the coal needed as it was difficult to get, along with milk, bread etc. Mum said it was one of the most depressing times of her life and was delighted when it thawed as she could take me out for fresh air, rather than holding me in the front room with the window open each day!, Wonder if that's why I sleep with a small window open in all weathers and temps. On a side note, I'm one of the natwest customers affected tonight. So embarrassing at the little Tesco as I didn't know there was a problem at the time and wondered where all my money had gone.
