Some really heavy echoes on the radar!coming across Brum now?http://www.netweathe...tion=radar;sess=
yeah if you run the radar from 17.45 to present you can really see how that has intensified!! still has my name on it too

Lovely, that red/orange patch is heading straight for me. could be interesting in about an hour or so i would say. that will help top up the few centimetres we've had here. not really had any heavy stuff yet , just been 4 1/2 hours of fine snow, but has settled well none the less.

ha ha. officially i live in the EAST midlands,in derbyshire but i am only 6 miles from staffs to the west and about 3 miles from leics to the east. on that map i am 10 miles north west of coalville.imby i am expecting a few hours of snow followed by maybe an hour of drizzly stuff but no significant thaw.probably end up with 3-4 inches of lying snow.. heres hoping for a little shift west

Upper Winds should veer more NNW'ly this afternoon and overnight which will probably mean a fairly dry slot for the East Midlands while the Cheshire Gap, if it continues to flow may give a good few showers to the West Midlands. How far they get inland overnight may be an issue though. Sometimes they go far, sometimes they dont. Today they seem to be going a good distance though.
Tomorrow morning, the situation looks similar before the upper winds driving the showers becoming more Westerly which may give the East Midlands a final shot at some snow showers before the milder weather arrives.
shame that is. the showers seemed to be making good in-roads too, will have to see how tomorrow pans out , would like a dusting even if it doesn't last an hour i'd be happy lol

it was trying its hardest to snow here about 30 mins ago. you could look up and see all the flakes in the sky but only the very biggest made it to the ground. looking at the radar, it looks like the streamer will be a little more favourable for those further east today, struggled yesterday to catch any precipitation

what a difference 24hrs make. was sure i was going to get my 1st snow of the winter yeterday evening here in south derbys but its not looking too good now. thinking anywhere north of birmingham will see very little, but hoping to be proved wrong.
good luck to all those in the prime areas, hope you all enjoy your snow

Bardon Hill at 278M ASL!!
Should be the place to head for you mate in Coalville
funny you should say that having grew up in the shadow of bardon hill i can never recall there being snow up there, while no snow at lower levels. surprising really at nearly a 1000ft asl.if there was snow up there, then it had also snowed at lower levels.is this due to the rarity of marginal events in the area?? i'm trying to stay calm and not get too excited......but it is looking quite good for friday morning

all snow event for me then, was a bit concerned about the marginality looking at some forecasts, no significant thawing either, so the main roads still covered, but passable, side roads bad too. gonna send my 18 month old daughter out to play in it, though she wasn't too sure about it last night lol
