  1. Some really gusty winds during the night here, some proper window creaking gusts. It didn't seem all that different to the evening before in terms of strength. Much calmer this morning.
  2. Yeah, outside the Red Lion I believe. I've read that it caught the back of someone's car as it came down. There were certainly some vicious gusts a couple of miles down the road here.
  3. The warning was definitely justified, some trees down locally, including one at least across the main road.
  4. Wind gusts have really picked up in the past hour. Some branches already observed down on the way back from a swift 2 pints in the pub.
  5. A few hours of dry weather, but the rain has now returned, wind starting to pick up a little as well.
  6. Rain has cleared through here now after a wet few hours. Just a gentle breeze at the moment
  7. Heavy rain here, although a good chance it may dry up a bit by late morning and then attention turns to the wind as we head through the afternoon. A colder spell does seem to have some mileage towards the end of the year. If that does happen, it would be nice if that change could shift a few days earlier to coincide with Christmas.
  8. Yes, rather different to yesterday morning. A rising temperature overnight and outbreaks of rain at times, currently 5.1C.
  9. Yes, mornings like these lift the spirits a little. Definitely a case of make the most of it for now though.
  10. Yeah, and looks like the milder wetter spell may be set in for some time. It would be nice if we could at least have something a bit more seasonal over the Christmas period. I say seasonal, but then that probably still means mild and wet
  11. Bit damp to start, but dried up during the day, remaining overcast for the most part, some clear breaks now though. I'm missing those lovely crisp cold and sunny days we had last week already. Back to the damp/wet mild weather over the coming days unfortunately.
  12. Yes, thoughts are with you @Dark Horse it's sounds like a very tough time for you all.
  13. A miserable day today, overcast and gloomy with outbreaks of rain at times and a max temp of 4.4C. Just about the worst type of weather at this time of year.
  14. I echo the condolences above@Iceaxecrampon Sympathy for your loss. A grim morning here, outbreaks of rain with a temperature of 2.5C.
  15. I wouldn't worry, they'll be no danger of ice in the morning in lowland areas in the South of the region, looks like it will continue raining on and off throughout the evening and night. Although today has been grim, the prospect of a partial thaw and refreeze for the morning commute would have been an even worse prospect.
  16. Light rain for the past couple of hours and snow cover is thawing and turning to vile slush on pavements and roads. I'm pleased there isn't going to be a big freeze over tonight as it would just end up being horrendous in the morning on roads and pavements.
  17. Interesting. Liverpool Airport TAF also forecasts possibility of light snow in the early hours. However, metoffice mentioning potentially disruptive snow over hills, but just rain to lower levels.
  18. Not a bad effort here yesterday evening, got around a couple of cm of snow, happy enough with that for the very start of winter. Metoffice warning stated 1 to 3 cm in some places at lower levels, which was right on the money, based on the various reports.
  19. Looks like this could be the final hurrah here, huge gap following on the radar. A decent cover on all surfaces, just shy of an inch. Hopefully it will clear to allow a decent freeze over. Still coming down nicely for now though.
