  1. Merry Christmas all! Just tucking into a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel to start the day for breakfast. Overcast, but dry to start the big day, but rain is gathering out to the West, so no doubt a wet afternoon to follow.
  2. Ridiculously mild to start the day following more rain overnight, 12.9C. A little breezy, but nothing that significant compared to the past few days. I'll just take this opportunity to say best wishes to all for Christmas.
  3. Much lighter winds today and dry so far, so not too bad a day in comparison to the previous two days.
  4. The wind has finally abated somewhat here, though still a bit blowy at times. A rather mild and at times wet few days coming up, but at least a glimmer of hope for some colder weather as we head towards and into January.
  5. Yeah, likewise, I'm certainly not a worshipper either. I remember getting burnt quite badly as a child, sometimes to the extent that skin would later peel off. This was when holidaying back in the late 80s/early 90s in the Western Isles of Scotland of all places! It's not that we didn't have sun cream on, it is just that 30 years ago, sun cream wasn't so readily available in high factors, nor as long lasting as the sun cream around today. Nowadays, I avoid the sun in the middle of the day all together if I can help it and use factor 50 if I have to venture out.
  6. Another turbulent night here with very gusty winds at times coming through with squally showers. I was fairly knackered yesterday as I hadn't slept much the night before, so was asleep by around 21:00 yesterday evening and have finally woken up properly just now so feeling much more refreshed, although I occasionally stirred when the big wind gusts and squally showers rattled through in the early hours. I heard the sound of a bin crashing down at one point in the night. The bins are full as it's bin day, so demonstrates the ferocity of the gust of wind.
  7. I may be in a minority with this, but I don't actually mind the shorter days myself, and as someone who is not the heaviest of sleepers, this time of year is actually preferable to me compared to the summer months, and the longer nights and more comfortable temperatures in the house mean I usually sleep better and longer in winter.
  8. Still a really lively wind here. Not as strong as early this morning, but sufficiently strong to need a bit of effort to open the door against the wind. Looks like we may continue to see gusts touching gale force into this evening for a time.
  9. A drier interlude around the middle of the day here, but it's been a dark amd blustery afternoon since with a continual feed of showers with gusty winds.
  10. What a wild night that was, proper house creaking gusts of wind sustained over a few hours. Wind speeds peaked at around 06:00, but have since moderated, but still very gusty at times and have had squally rain lashing against the windows over the past hour or so. Glad I haven't had to venture out this morning.
  11. Wind really howling and whistling here and some really potent gusts. It woke me up a couple of hours ago and decided no point trying to get back to sleep. Wow, strongest gust yet just now, properly creaked the house.
  12. Gusty winds throughout the night here, dry at the moment and a mild start, 8.6C. A blustery day coming up and then winds strengthening further overnight.
  13. Early rain cleared from here around mid morning, then was a reasonable day after, just the briefest of light showers around mid afternoon. Not as mild today, highest temperature was at midnight, 10.8C. Back to single digit temperatures by this afternoon though.
  14. Temperature reached 13.4C here today, extremely mild. Overcast throughout, but nothing in the way of any real meaningful rain, one or two light showers which barely wet the ground.
  15. A few bits and pieces of rain over the last hour or two here, but barely enough to get the ground properly wet, the Welsh Hills doing a good job of gobbling up the worst of it.
  16. Overcast, but dry here at the moment, but there has been an odd light shower this morning. Very mild, currently 12.3C.
  17. Another reasonable day here to round off the weekend, dry again during daylight hours, although looks like it will be downhill overnight and into tomorrow with rain moving in. Rather mild again today with temperatures into double figures, a max of 11.6C.
  18. Yeah, it was a classic case of being punished for not taking our chances early on on the season with the one nil defeats against Fulham and Wolves being prime examples. We should have won both of those games. We are racking up a decent run of clean sheets now as well. It was quite amusing see some of the Newcastle players whinging about lack of respect after that game. I think they assumed they could just turn up to beat us. As you say, the future is looking very bright for once.
  19. Yes, certainly not out of the game for something wintry as we head into the Christmas period, things currently looking quite average temperature wise, neither exceptionally mild or cold. It's a reasonable start to the day here, mostly cloudy with a few brighter breaks, but dry.
  20. I reckon the points deduction will be halved or even down to 3 points following the appeal. Not that it seems to have mattered much as we're flying. People are saying the points deduction motivated the turn in form, but to be fair, things had started to turn around before that. Spurs away next, that will be a good test of how far we've progressed.
  21. A decent day today, even though a little too mild for my liking, max temp 11.2C. Plenty of sunshine and a nice sunset, certainly beats a day of rain.
