A really cold day today, warmest part of the day was actually just after midnight, at 3C. Dipped down to -1.8C this morning and then struggled up to 0.9C this afternoon. A superb sunny day. The temperature is now dropping steadily, currently -2.7C. I just went for a run and ended up doing more sliding than running, the roads pavements are lethal with compacted snow and ice.

Quite a lot of the snow cover has melted here and side roads are mostly snow free, snow cover still remaining on footpaths, grass etc in places though. It's been mostly cloudy but dry since the snowfall this morning. The temperature reached 4C this afternoon. I was quite surprised how quickly the snow melted this afternoon given the temperature didn't get that high, it's been mostly cloudy and dewpoint has remained quite low. A bit of a stiff breeze has developed now and it feels really chilly and raw out, currently 3.4C.

Yeah, does appear to be further South than forecast yesterday. This may be reflected by the latest metoffice forecast for the region. Yesterday, they were specifically mentioning snow developing in Cumbria, today they just say periods of snow developing in the region generally. Certainly an interesting day coming up.

Just woken and looked out so see everywhere white with a dusting of snow from overnight showers. Temp was down to -2.4C earlier, currently -0.7C. The metoffice forecast looks interesting for tonight. I don't think the question of whether Tuesday's feature will be snow or rain will be relevant for here as I don't think it will get this far South anyway.

I have to admit, I am surprised that the updated text forecast for the region is still the same as earlier for Weds and Thursday, given the warning issued earlier. I suppose they have been clever with the wording, saying 'probably' drier. Anyway, they'll certainly be a lot of nowcasting this week, as is often the case with snow. I'm not expecting Tuesday to deliver much here. The main interest for me is Weds into Thursday in the showery regime with the flow backing to the NW.

I was expecting a warning for Tuesday, but not for Wednesday and Thursday. The metoffice must have sufficient confidence, although its at the lowest end on the likelihood scale in the warning. Accumulations will depend on where showers/streamers set up of course, but nice to see the possibility of 10cm to lower ground.
