  1. We had some heavy showers here this morning, torrential at one point with proper bouncing rain. Dried up this afternoon with plenty of sunshine and a nice end to the afternoon.
  2. Some prolonged rainfall overnight here, now clearing away. 59.4mm of rainfall since Friday evening.
  3. We've got off relatively lightly here today so far compared to other parts of the region, with an hour or so of heavy showers just after lunchtime. The large mass of intense ppn is now edging South and it's starting raining here again in the past hour. We may have a few hours of heavy rain to end the day. 33mm of rain recorded here over the weekend so far.
  4. Some torrential showers just after lunchtime dumped around 8mm of rain, but it's dried up again here, the showers/rain having moved away to the East/North.
  5. It's been mostly dry here all morning and even had some glimpses of the sun an hour or so ago. Radar shows areas of rain/showers developing close by and indeed it's just started to rain as I type.
  6. Some small bits of blue sky visible here now. Wasn't expecting that.
  7. Yeah, I assume that will be the case, metoffice automated forecast is showing 80 to 90 percent chance of heavy rain from 14:00 this afternoon, right through to 05:00 tomorrow morning. We shall see what happens, but far less rain than I was expecting so far, certainly in terms of the prolonged rainfall that I was expecting based on the forecast on Friday. We have had around an inch though since yesterday morning, the rain we have had has been heavy, especially yesterday morning.
  8. Lol. That's a very decent age for a cat. Ours is around 14 and that is on the old side.
  9. Things haven't been as bad as they might have been here in terms of the rain here. We've had around an inch of rain over the past 24 hours, but this has fallen largely in two shorter periods of heavy rain, yesterday morning and yesterday evening. It was certainly bouncing down yesterday morning. The bulk of the rain moved North of here before midnight and only 1.2mm of rain recorded since then, so things a bit further North than forecast by the looks of it. We may well escape the worst of the rain today in this part of the region.
  10. Some very heavy rain this morning, more like lakes rather than puddles on the local roads. However, it dried up around lunchtime and no further rain since.
  11. Delightful weather, heavy rain and lots more to come. Definitely a weekend for inside jobs, or lazing around. I'll probably take the second option.
  12. Turned into a nice day after some showers early to mid morning. Similar temperature to yesterday, up to 18.C. As for tomorrow and Sunday, oh dear......great weather for ducks though.
  13. Back to the cloudy conditions this morning with some showers passing through. A bit of a dismal weekend coming up and a complete washout looking likely tomorrow.
  14. Another decent day here with plenty of sunshine. A high of 18.9C which was ample enough in the strong July sun. Looks like it may be cloudier again tomorrow.
  15. A much better day today, a couple of showers this morning, but plenty of sunshine, especially this afternoon. Rather breezy out. A high of 19.6C and felt warm enough in the sun. Decent enough summer weather for me.
  16. It's a brighter start over this way with some sunshine at times, really does transform the feel of things. Should hopefully be more brighter weather on offer for most in the region today and tomorrow compared to previous days.
  17. I'm pretty glad my week in the Lakes is not until the end of August. Hopefully the chance of some more settled weather by then. Not looking great in the short to medium term.
  18. A pretty dire day of weather today, outbreaks of rain for a lot of the day, although dried up a bit late afternoon, max temperature 15.8C. However, I'd still take this weather over temperatures into the 40s Celcius. I don't envy those in Southern Europe at all right now. The hope of something brighter over the next 2 or 3 days, but all downhill again by the weekend.
  19. We had some torrential rain this morning, proper bouncing rain, but it electrified just East of here which was a bit annoying. Showers on and off throughout the day, but it dried up somewhat late afternoon.
  20. Turned out to be a decent afternoon here, dry with sunny spells, so faired better than other parts by the sound of it, max temp 19.8C. Rounded off the day with a delicious toad in the hole and lashings of thick gravy.
  21. A couple of showers this morning, but some lengthy sunny periods now and looks like we are sat in the dry slot between the lines of showers for now.
  22. The jet will be sure to return North for winter with South Westerlies and copious amounts of rain, but at least it will be mild. I'm no lover of heat, but I also don't long for days on end of cloudy conditions with rain/showers during summer. It has been a bit drab recently and when the sun does come out after prolonged cloudy periods, it does lift the spirits a little. The weather we had in May was superb, sunny with temps around 20C and the nights weren't too warm.
  23. Ah, we do love to talk about the weather in this country don't we... A mostly cloudy morning here with some brief sunny breaks. Less breezy compared to yesterday. We're only half way through summer still so plenty of time for good weather, regardless of how 'good' is defined by each person. Can't possibly write of 6 weeks of weather with any degree of confidence.
