We've got off relatively lightly here today so far compared to other parts of the region, with an hour or so of heavy showers just after lunchtime. The large mass of intense ppn is now edging South and it's starting raining here again in the past hour. We may have a few hours of heavy rain to end the day. 33mm of rain recorded here over the weekend so far.

Yeah, I assume that will be the case, metoffice automated forecast is showing 80 to 90 percent chance of heavy rain from 14:00 this afternoon, right through to 05:00 tomorrow morning. We shall see what happens, but far less rain than I was expecting so far, certainly in terms of the prolonged rainfall that I was expecting based on the forecast on Friday. We have had around an inch though since yesterday morning, the rain we have had has been heavy, especially yesterday morning.

Things haven't been as bad as they might have been here in terms of the rain here. We've had around an inch of rain over the past 24 hours, but this has fallen largely in two shorter periods of heavy rain, yesterday morning and yesterday evening. It was certainly bouncing down yesterday morning. The bulk of the rain moved North of here before midnight and only 1.2mm of rain recorded since then, so things a bit further North than forecast by the looks of it. We may well escape the worst of the rain today in this part of the region.

A pretty dire day of weather today, outbreaks of rain for a lot of the day, although dried up a bit late afternoon, max temperature 15.8C. However, I'd still take this weather over temperatures into the 40s Celcius. I don't envy those in Southern Europe at all right now. The hope of something brighter over the next 2 or 3 days, but all downhill again by the weekend.

The jet will be sure to return North for winter with South Westerlies and copious amounts of rain, but at least it will be mild. I'm no lover of heat, but I also don't long for days on end of cloudy conditions with rain/showers during summer. It has been a bit drab recently and when the sun does come out after prolonged cloudy periods, it does lift the spirits a little. The weather we had in May was superb, sunny with temps around 20C and the nights weren't too warm.

Ah, we do love to talk about the weather in this country don't we... A mostly cloudy morning here with some brief sunny breaks. Less breezy compared to yesterday. We're only half way through summer still so plenty of time for good weather, regardless of how 'good' is defined by each person. Can't possibly write of 6 weeks of weather with any degree of confidence.
