Rush2019 Wow, 14.4C first thing in the morning in mid Feb, ridiculously mild. I'm sure we didn't get much past that as a maximum temperature in summer last year on some occasions.

Yesterday didn't end up too bad until later in the afternoon, when some rain arrived. It was very mild for February, reached 13.6C. Not much of a temperature drop overnight and remained in double figures with a low of 10.6C.
Dry to start here, although the luxury of some more rain looms for later.

Not the wet afternoon I was expecting here based on the forecast this morning. Mostly dry and cloudy throughout. A slight bit of dampness in the air now, but nothing even remotely significant enough to get the ground wet right now.

Another decent day here with sunshine at times, that's three reasonable days in a row without any significant rain, don't think that's happened for a while. Temps around average again, reached 8.8C.

The sun burst through before lunch here and it's turned into another decent day with partial cloud cover and sunny breaks.

It's not the same bright start as we had yesterday, but early mist and fog has thinned and hopefully things should brighten up into the afternoon.

Iceaxecrampon Superb, built to last. We had a similar old style barometer in my childhood home at the foot of the stairs, my dad would tap tap tap it twice a day do his weather reports.

Yes, it's turned out to be a nice Saturday, bright with patchy cloud cover.
Welcome relief from all the rain over the past couple of days. Temps around average if not a shade above, reached 9.1C.

It's a reasonable start to the day here, dry with partial cloud cover, 2.5C. Hopefully a chance to dry out a bit today after a miserable few days. At least the drier weather has been timed well for the weekend.

Joe Snow Yes, the sun is starting to gain increasing strength now as the days gradually lengthen and by March, conditions needed for snow to stick around are very hard to come by. I recall the snowfall we had in March last year. Absolutely pasted it down in the morning, dumping a couple of inches or so but was mostly gone by the afternoon. A contrast to December through to January when a slight covering can remain on the ground for days.

iand61 i would definitely have taken your wet two inches here!
The warnings were warranted based on the available information on the Wednesday morning, but things did shift just the wrong side of marginal in the models for most later that day which was very gutting after the earlier output. I'm sure those high up were just about satisfied with the covering at least but could have been so much better.
At my location, it just ended up being one of the most miserable days of winter.

Just about the most vile type of day possible here today. Rain, heavy at times well into the afternoon with the temp sat just 2 or 3 degrees above freezing and a fresh Easterly wind. The rain did turn to sleet for a couple of hours this morning.
Very disappointing after what had looked possible in the models yesterday morning and another wet and miserable day to come tomorrow by the looks of it. The best part of a 1000ft needed for decent settling snow in the end it seems.

cheshire snow Yeah, vile weather here right now. Temperature is slowly dropping, but still sat at 2.5C with heavy rain and a bit of an Easterly breeze. Just about the worst kind of weather there could be.

Joe Snow Yes, there will be a bit of a backlash if there is little or no snow. I have a lot of sympathy for the metoffice, they were absolutely right to issue the amber warning, but things did downgrade yesterday evening on the models unfortunately. Things could still change, but there have been intense echoes over North Wales for some time now, so the lack of reports in the Welsh thread is probably not a good sign.

Iceaxecrampon Yeah, I was thinking last night that there could be an awful lot of people wondering why on earth all the schools are shut! I totally get why they made the call given the amber warning, and could still come to fruition, but looking more wet than white at the moment.

Some intense echoes widely across Wales on the radar, but no reports at all in the Wales regional thread for the past 7 hours. I'm guessing that's a bad sign for snow prospects.

Rain here, 2.9C, I guess that confirms game over for here, unless the snow level is driven to lower elevation in any heavier ppn. Those in the rain shadow at low levels can be grateful!

An overcast morning here with the odd shower, currently 10C.
I'm heading up to the Lakes shortly for a walking weekend. It looks a mixed bag of weather with rain at times and the cloud likely to be down below the tops most of the weekend, so not the best conditions and certainly not the wintry conditions I was hoping for, but will still be good to get up into the mountains.
