Managed around a cm or two of lying snow. Wasn't expecting that two hours ago. The power of evaporative cooling very much shown here.

Very heavy snow now and starting to settle on all surfaces.

Starting to settle on the cars and grass

Large flakes often arise when it is marginal I think. Can get some great falls in that kind of setup.

A wintry mix here now with the rain having turned back to sleet. I suspect this is due to the more intense precipitation now moving over.

Still snowing, maybe a couple of cm’s on the ground but looking at the speed this is pushing through the region, I suggest you get the car started now.
Yes, the one consolation for those who haven't got snow is that it does seem to be zipping through at a rate of knots.

Maybe the metoffice warnings for heavy snow should be altered to heavy rain lol.
Of course, rain breaking through the rain shadow with ease now!

Hi all. First post, although been a (lurking) member for several years. Looks like an interesting snow event, although likely transient. Latest metoffice forecast for north west suggests it will move through quite quickly.

Peak District forecast looks promising for Monday. States that freezing levels will fall to 100m by the evening. Surely this indicates snow, including accumulating snow, likely at all levels by the evening?
