  1. Not really that good here Frosty, or for most of the UK - the first 5 days of June were totally sunless at London Heathrow, and the past 3 days have had the following sunshine hours - 9.1, 13.4 and 4.3. For one of the sunniest areas of the UK that is abysmal you have to admit. Hasn't been as bad here but but it's only the past 3 days (Sun-Tues) that were sunny or mostly sunny. Before then, mostly cloudy or overcast, and cold, with the 1st of June having a max of 12C. Wednesday was another cloudy day and today is looking rather cloudy too. It's definitely not been a week of sunny skies and warm weather as far as most people in the UK are concerned. This spell of weather has turned out to be very disappointing for a lot of people, and will be gone before it got the chance to get going. If this turned out to be the best we see all year then it would definitely go down in history as the worst. Hopefully, July and August will deliver something at least decent, because for most people in the UK summer has not got off to a good start, and if the rest of June is unsettled then it'll be a write-off. Even June 2007 managed better than we seen have thus far despite the tremendous amounts of rain!
  2. Sorry, but I do not believe for one second that anyone finds 26C 'too warm'. It's completely absurd. Your house/flat/whatever may well become too warm after a string of warm, sunny days - but that's only because houses in the UK are designed to retain heat. It has nothing to do with 26C being unbearably hot - because it simply isn't. The sun isn't even particularly strong in the UK at any time of year considering our northerly latitude. 26C is less common here than it is in London but not so infrequent that it's deemed a heatwave. Seriously, it feels like whenever the sun comes out for more than 10 minutes at a time, people start crying that it's sooooo hot. It isn't just a case of my job being physically inactive either - I am very active in all weathers outside of work, and will happily go for an afternoon run when it's 23C (no doubt a few on here would die after the first 10 seconds).
  3. Yesterday was 26C and midday humidity was 49% - in what universe is that 'humid'? It isn't even remotely hot! Christ almighty.. you'd probably wilt and die like a stressed flower if you went to Florida!! As for today - it's 19C with 83% humidity. In most places in the world, this weather would be exceptionally cool for the time of year. We really are not a tough nation at all if we moan like little girls whenever it's a tiny bit warm.. there are people going to work in New York and Chicago every day with weather far, far, far warmer than anything we have at the moment.
  4. And hopefully no more easterly winds until November.. unless it's a hot south-easterly from the continent.
  5. To my untrained eye it doesn't look totally dreadful.. temperatures actually look respectable. Those above charts still showing 20C+ on some days. Might be unsettled, but doesn't look cold, and should feel warm in any sunshine (it's totally overcast here today so..).
  6. I live in the same city as you and didn't find 2015 'sh*t'. It was extremely average in almost every aspect. A cold summer it certainly wasn't.
  7. Still waiting here. Last saw lightning in March this year, not even a rumble since. Getting a storm is like pulling teeth this year!
  8. Today was only 26C in Leeds - if that was our highest temperature all summer, it'd put us on par with the dreadful summer of 2012 and worse than 2007 and 2008. Possible, but I don't see it happening.
  9. Yes the sun has just made an appearance here. Still plenty of towering clouds to the west and south west. Holding out for something later but by this point I doubt anything will happen.
  10. Yes, some impressive towers. Doubt we'll be getting anything here though - truly a terrible convective year for us so far.
  11. I'd say the hottest temperatures of the year would more likely fall in the last week of July and first week of August on average, given that is statistically the warmest 2-week period and high temperature records tend to fall in early August. Indeed from 1986 to 2006 the highest temperature of the year here in Leeds occurred in August more than any other month, but since 2007 less so due to the run of lackluster August's. Off topic though.. no more from me.
  12. My ideal summer temperature is around 23C, but anywhere from 21C to 25C is okay. The average high here in July is 21.2C which is acceptable to me, and is a pleasant temperature. I've never desired heat - don't see the point of it really beyond barbecues and swimming. I can tolerate it fine, but I find 30C less comfortable than 21C.
  13. ^^ Looks good for Leeds, for a change! Guess we'll wait and see - looks like Leeds and Sheffield + surrounding areas will be the warmest places in the UK tomorrow.
  14. 25C today with unbroken sunshine. Beautiful weather.
  15. Today we had a max of 23.1C but Bridlington on the East Riding coast only reached 13.5C. Certainly not a day for going to the (east) coast - even in the sun it's still cold there.
  16. I suspect for many areas of the NW the last 5 days are as good as it is ever likely to get this summer. I think for eastern areas, given July and August are often far superior months, the prospects are naturally better. With any luck though we'll get a nice big UK high a la July 2013 so the entire country can benefit from some sustained warmth and sunshine.. although August 1995 would be a treat as well!
  17. We have a UV index of 7 today which is about as high as it will go here.
  18. You're joking right? It was only 20C -even with 79% humidity there is no way that is uncomfortable. Have you been checked for health conditions? Overweight?
  19. In what way? The BBC show highs of 22-23C next week for here. They're not 'overcooking' it - looks perfectly reasonable to me.
  20. Why is it awful? I see widespread low 20s. Pleasant weather, appropriate for early June.
  21. I want to see something like your avatar.. what a dream come true that would be.
  22. Exactly.. it makes a refreshing change because the type of weather we've had for the past 2 days is what you guys should be getting instead. It's the natural order of things. Plus, I think you'll find Yorkshire was also severely impacted by flooding in December, particularly York which was practically submerged.
  23. Yup. It's not unusual to go this far without a storm - certainly no storms here this year and the last time I saw lightning was in March. Best storms I recall tend to occur in the June-Aug period.
