Well I don`t like the graphics, bin that run... Chart 1, is this one of those periods where our weather mirrors the US? -

Probably right, I did edit my post to show the Hirlam not having the sector. What is noticeable is that it appears even further delayed coming in so room for upgrading further. -

It keep the theme and you do have to wonder about the channel having an effect in that bizarre zone between South UK and France. Cheers mate. EDIT: The Hirlam doesn`t have the sector. -

Haven`t flicked through today`s thread and maybe already mentioned but the Arpege has a modified take on Saturday`s rain/snaw. -

Bolded the word which I wasn`t referring to. Absolutely, complete strat gurus on this site and no way would I ever undermine their skill. A general SSW is what my lucky dip comment was about. -

Placement of the SSW is key though and yes it can go in our favour certainly, bloody lucky dip though. -

Can`t help noticing that it isn`t that heavy either away from the North. I can see why the Arpege showed it`s chart fro snow in France, misses southern England and then maybe Midlands North. If you want more than a fleeting flake you need decent rainfall. -

when was the last vortex split in winter? Did I read we had one last Feb or was that just a warming? Agreed, I think a little bit too much faith is put in these scenarios. -

True but it`s the same UKMO which has been just as confused as us recently. -

Just think it`s it take on the milder sector being mixed out which is much more southern than what, let`s say the ECM is suggesting. It`s easy to see why sticking a forecast out must be a right mare tbh. -

Bizarre chart from the Arpege for Sat, Snow in France and Midlands above. That must be some weird mild sector in between. -

But at least we are not in a Bartlett scenario. -

Me neither and what is more annoying is that it is right more times than it`s wrong. -

Don`t forget the trap door we normally get... EDIT: You have to applaud that Scandi high though, sterling efforts recently. -

If I had a £1 for every time I saw the cold air at this distance... Just shows that when surrounded by water you need everything to play the game and that Azores we crave in summer still gives you a kick in the proverbial`s at this time of year. -

Knew that was coming, Daniel re my post earlier regarding less colour on that. Tomorrow is another day which you would think would be decisive. -

We will monitor, Tony and yes I have bolded the most important word imo. Plenty of theories about that period, all good from what I read but will stick with the bolded word for now. -

Very true mate but compared to last nights 12z, pretty stark to the point of it will only rain Saturday. On this run my wee chase is over but will see what tomorrow brings. 1st chart 12Z yesterday
