Just wanted to say be careful out there folks, driving is surprisingly hazardous with all the water and debris.I was nearly in a major crash earlier. I hit a piece of debris that went flying under my wheel and made me do a 360 in the middle of an A road, go across the verge and into the oncoming traffic and then back onto my side of the road. Luckily the road was pretty much deserted because I dread to think what would have happened otherwise.

Don't make me go back to work today. It's wet and windy outside and snuggly warm in my bed
Only back for today and tomorrow, but still!

Another very windy night here. Not quite as bad as Monday night but the roof tiles were taking a pounding. Not sure they can last another storm.

Just had a sharp hail shower.

Morning all.
I don't think we have any damage here. Haven't investigated properly yet.
The winds were at there worst at about 1am. I have never heard anything like it.
Was eerie at one point to have a very strong gust and then sirens a few minutes later.
Hope you have all had a safe night.

Just stuck my head out the door. It's weird to describe the feeling out there. It's........ominous.

Just had a light flicker!

Really picked up in tbe last 10 minutes. Quite worried about my parents property. In the October storm they lost fence panels, a tree and several roof tiles but this is way worse.

Trying to work out what the hell is banging outside so I can send OH out to tie it down otberwise there'll be no sleep!
-
I think I've worked out that a row of trees is protecting our house from the worst of it. Those trees are quite diagonal now and the houses on the other side of it are losing everything that isn't fastened down.
-
I guess you're getting what we'll be getting in an hour or so, Surrey?
-
Hmm, whilst there is the odd gust that's quite strong, it's not as bad as others have been reporting in my locale. I must be sheltered by adjacent houses. Still plenty of time to change.
I think I'm the same as you. I think I'm sheltered by our neighbours as everyone just down the road seems to be getting massively battered.

Maybe I should take you flying, you can sit in the right hand seat and I can show you how to fly
I shall be in the left hand seat as PIC one day if I ever get the money!

Are we being protected by something here in Strood? Apart from a few noticeable gusts, it doesn't seem to be as bad as it sounds elsewhere.
-
How you know that makes me love you!! haha!
Unapologetic aviation geek/wannabe pilot, sir.

Gone all quiet again in Strood

After 2 landing attempts, I wonder where they are diverting to, the EZY behind him also went around and seems to be following him.

LGW has now had several go arounds in a row. I guess that tells us what the winds are like coming this way....

Still hasn't picked up really from the lull? Is it still coming our way?
-
ATC and the pilots are earning their money tonight.
God help any of those passengers if they are scared of flying.
Still in the lull here.

Just had to go and pick OH up from Ebbsfleet as the trains were stopping there.
It is VERY dangerous on the roads, sheet rain, crazy spray and big puddles. Lots of aquaplaning and bad braking.
Please do not go out in it unless you have to. I don't think I have ever been so alert driving in my life.
Bear in mind this was during the CALMER part of the storm.

i've been watching that aswell......thought he was meant to land at Gatwick?
All flights have an alternate if they cannot land at their destination. As he had been around a few times he was probably getting low on fuel and therefore couldn't risk another go around, so he or she went to the alternate.

Seems like during this brief lull, LGW are getting the landings in ASAP and all departing traffic is holding on the taxiways.

I don't know if the radar is going funny but no one is taking off from LGW and most that have gone around seem to be diverting.
LGW closing?

Yes, me and the car are fine, but I keep 'seeing it' in my minds eye and it won't go away. That's the worst bit.
