  1. As expected, a claggy morning with a few spits and spots of rain, barely reaching the ground. If the sun comes out it'll be a minor miracle...

  4. Thames water has said it can't support any more new housing in the Haslemere area, my sister says water bowsers 24/7 are now a regular thing. The last recorded rainfall here was the beginning of May, that 30 odd mm is but a distant memory. Every day the chance of rainfall recedes on the 16 day forecast! Re the Guardian article, years ago there was a brilliant children's series (I think it may have been an Australian production) in a dystopian future where water was the most precious thing on the planet. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called.
  5. No chance! And if it ever happens, be prepared for a barrage of "The SE gets all the storms" after you've had one flash of lightning and a couple of rumbles......
  6. The sun finally made an appearance late in the afternoon. No rainfall for us for at least another week according to the 16 day forecast. What's the betting we only get grey skies and drizzle......
  7. Very cloudy and threatening nr Guildford when I left this morning, interestingly I could see the developing "action" in my rear view mirror as I went home to Norfolk via M25/A1M. Exactly in the right place as forecast. Some spots of rain on the windscreen when I was almost home, surprised it actually reached that far tbh.
  8. Definitely a case of "east is worst" these days. However the minute we get the odd rumble it's "oh look, the E/SE get all the storms".
  9. Lucky escape for our Open Gardens event in Grayswood, stuff literally developed over our area around 4pm, we got one brief heavy shower and a couple of rumbles before it absolutely exploded into life a few miles to the NW.
  10. All the action now well west/NW of London. We caught a heavy shower and a few rumbles from the edge of it around 4pm in Grayswood.
  11. No significant rain for the east judging by the local 16 day forecast. Looks like our water bill will be astronomical again
  12. Tbh February was better, plenty of lovely sunshine, I had some lovely walks, removing my hoodie after a mile or so. This weather is driving me insane, everything is being stunted by the cold and lack of rainfall. Bring on the humidity, I can't wait.
  13. Heartily sick of this weather. Walking the dogs last thing in a fleece, fingerless mittens and a woolly hat? Utterly ridiculous.
  14. I don't think I've ever had constant rolling thunder for over an hour in May, EVER! I mean, two thunder days already in 2023, what's going on?!?!?
  15. Quite a decent storm trundled past an hour ago, visible lightning every 20/30 seconds and some decent rumbles. In fact I think I saw more activity from this storm than 2021/22 put together..... Attleborough must have had some biblical rainfall.
  16. Just had another pretty active storm pass by, I've probably heard and seen more thunder and lightning from that than the whole of 2022 (and possibly 2021!) Attleborough has just had a LOT of rain.....
  17. Back out of hibernation yay! Apparently there were some flashes and bangs at home, but as I wasn't there I probably missed the only storm we'll get this year!
  18. Perfect drying day, just got a whole load of washing out, and the only area of rain in the SE is heading straight towards me. Pfft. Just re-hung the whole lot under cover.
  19. Half a dozen flashes and a couple of rumbles, which is absolutely epic for this area.
  20. It always makes me laugh when I see a vid on YT or somewhere saying "severe storm UK" and it's has like 2 flashes of lightning in 20 minutes!
  21. We're too easily pleased these days, it's why I'm heading back to Holland next year in the fond hope I'll see something!
