  1. Pictures or it didn't happen! It's actually gone quite dark here, although I'm not sure whether that's just normal sunset...
  2. Nohing but dull grey skies here all afternoon. Normal for Norfolk. Every "event" has been a total yawnfest here, not even any decent rainfall.
  3. Hmm. thankfully I equate mushrooms with the flavour and texture of old car tyres Another one to be watchful for is the yellow stainer (looks identical to a standard field mushroom), which will stain bright chrome yellow when the stalk is cut. The OH had a close call a few years ago, luckily it's a mushroom which flags itself as "probably best not to try this"!! Apparently it smells wrong when cooked - if anyone ever gets to that point.... PS Surely you mean the "morel" of this story. Arf.
  4. I think we'll just have to accept that Norfolk and Suffolk are too far east/west/north/south for anything!
  5. Amazing how something can travel out to sea, die off and then re-invigorate further north and head inland, thanks to all the right ingredients. Ah, if only that happened further south more often. It's only happend here once, when a storm system did a complete about turn and headed back across the Norfolk coast and moved SW. Would have been back in the late 90s.
  6. Just checked the rain gauge, we had as much rain lst night as we had for the whole of July! A whopping 5mm.....
  7. Morning all, beautiful start to the day. Has as much rain last night as I had for the whole of July! Mind you, 5mm isn't exactly saying much.....
  8. Definition of a severe storm in Norfolk. Damp tarmac for 800m and a few leaves on the road as it got a bit windy for about 20 mins.
  9. Definition of a severe storm in Norfolk. Damp tarmac for approx 800m and a few leaves on the road as it got a bit breezy for 10 minutes.
  10. Well, the only exciting news is it's got windy enough to rock the van a bit. Honestly, what a waste of time, last flash was ages ago. Bring in the drizzle...
  11. Currently parked up watching paint dry. Sorry, I meant the flash every 15 mins over towards Ely.
  12. Well, I've found some rain, and of course as soon as I take a drive everything dies the death. East Anglia is pants. Even the rain's stopped!
  13. Lightning maps isn't having any of it but my StrikeAlert seems to think something is going on somewhere!
  14. Doubt if it will come to much tbh. Some places might get a few mm of rain though.
  15. I'd have more chance of seeing a storm if I was staying with a friend just outside Middleburg in Holland!
  16. Doubt if it's worth staying up if you're in the east, unless light rain floats your boat. Activity off Kent is as usual moving into the N Sea, the rest of it will probably turn into mush somewhere west of Cambridge....
  17. Here ya go Pete, one from the archives (August 5th 2012) just to prove that East Anglia can do (or could do) magnificent. Right on my doorstep. We may never see its like again.
