  1. Just wanted to wish everyone on Tour 1 a safe journey, and a fantastic chase tour! It's been great fun watching the buildup for you all. Save the rest of us on Tour 2 & 3 some decent storms, though, will you? Don't keep them all for yourselves!! all the best -pale blue sky-
  2. I'm sure with nine of us (at last count) on Tour 2, musical tastes will be exceedingly varied -PBS-
  3. Okay, dumb question the first: should we be worried that this year's totals are a lot lower than those of recent years? thanks -PBS-
  4. I absolutely second this one!! -PBS-
  5. Hi dogs32, yes, all gear just about ready thanks! But then, I don't tend to heft a whole lot of technology with me when I travel! Just netbook, compact camera and iPod. My best non-technology recommendation for this year: vitamin supplement to offset all the junk-food! -PBS-
  6. Hiya! I was the only girl in the tour in 2007 with Paul and the gang - don't worry, they're very friendly! And it looks like I'm the only girl on Tour 2 this year too! -PBS-
  7. Saw half a dozen flashes of lightning from this end of Northampton, both CG and IC. Not much rain though. -PBS- P.S. it's still flashing away intermittently as I type...
  8. For saying this is not the Med, I think this summer has been perfectly reasonable - although I would have liked a few more storms...
  9. Thunder kicked off here about 3pm, sporadic with some nice lightning, the cloud is just about clearing away to the north-east now.
  10. thundery shower over Northampton about 15 minutes ago - half a dozen rolls of thunder and one glorious CG -PBS-
  11. Hi Tom, I went out with the NW chase team last year, and I still have storm-chasing dreams now, a year later! And, like ChristIDontKnow, I've also spent the last year grouching at uncooperative cumulus clouds -PBS-
  12. Hi Stuart I took my little Olympus Mju 800 compact camera out chasing last year, and got some decent pics. It's fair to say the zoom wasn't up to much, and not great for lightning shots either - which is the bonus of a DSLR like one of the Canons already mentioned above - but for convenience sake (jumping in and out of chase vehicle) for me it was the better choice! I was more interested in watching the weather than photographing it anyway Whatever you choose, have a great time out there! -PBS-
  13. A couple of centimeters of snow in Northampton! Not falling at the moment, but I suspect it's just a lull. -PBS
  14. I heard the wind pick up about half-five this morning, but it sounded like a squall more than anything else. How disgusted would I be if there actually was a tornado in Northampton!! Having said that, my other half, Audmun, said that he came home from work this morning through rain the likes of which he hadn't seen since storm-chasing in USA in May. -PBS-
  15. Fabulous teaser! And a very well-chosen soundtrack too! Can't wait to see the full version! -PBS-
  16. Another thundery shower passing to the south of Northampton - a bit closer this time  -PBS-
  17. thundery shower passing south of Northampton right now. very nice lightning  -PBS-
  18. Hiya Paul Just wanted to echo the sentiments already stated - glad to see you back in the UK safe and well! all the best -PBS-
  19. Well done on the mammatus shots, Paul! I'm so pleased for you! -PBS-
  20. Have a great and safe chase, Paul! We'll be there with you in spirit! -PBS-
  21. Nice little thundery shower with some lightning over Northampton at the moment -PBS-
  22. For me, it's a strange mix of excitement, anxiety, more excitement, nerves, even more excitement, and then sheer blind panic hoping I've not forgotten to do/buy/pack anything too important! -PBS-
