Just wanted to wish everyone on Tour 1 a safe journey, and a fantastic chase tour! It's been great fun watching the buildup for you all. Save the rest of us on Tour 2 & 3 some decent storms, though, will you? Don't keep them all for yourselves!! all the best -pale blue sky-
Hi dogs32, yes, all gear just about ready thanks! But then, I don't tend to heft a whole lot of technology with me when I travel!
Just netbook, compact camera and iPod.
My best non-technology recommendation for this year: vitamin supplement to offset all the junk-food!

Hiya! I was the only girl in the tour in 2007 with Paul and the gang - don't worry, they're very friendly!
And it looks like I'm the only girl on Tour 2 this year too!

Saw half a dozen flashes of lightning from this end of Northampton, both CG and IC. Not much rain though.

P.S. it's still flashing away intermittently as I type...
Hi Tom, I went out with the NW chase team last year, and I still have storm-chasing dreams now, a year later!
And, like ChristIDontKnow, I've also spent the last year grouching at uncooperative cumulus clouds

Hi Stuart
I took my little Olympus Mju 800 compact camera out chasing last year, and got some decent pics. It's fair to say the zoom wasn't up to much, and not great for lightning shots either - which is the bonus of a DSLR like one of the Canons already mentioned above - but for convenience sake (jumping in and out of chase vehicle) for me it was the better choice! I was more interested in watching the weather than photographing it anyway
Whatever you choose, have a great time out there!

I heard the wind pick up about half-five this morning, but it sounded like a squall more than anything else.
How disgusted would I be if there actually was a tornado in Northampton!!
Having said that, my other half, Audmun, said that he came home from work this morning through rain the likes of which he hadn't seen since storm-chasing in USA in May.

For me, it's a strange mix of excitement, anxiety, more excitement, nerves, even more excitement, and then sheer blind panic hoping I've not forgotten to do/buy/pack anything too important!
