Looks like I'm too far North for the heavy stuff, this little snow is actually added to the thaw, just not my week.

Aside from our region have people ran the radar loop and looked at Ireland! They will easily see over 50cms i would have thought
Yep, there will be some insane totals there today. The radar returns seem quite strange though, the ppn seems to go from intense to non existent within 5 miles.
-
So strange to see this, especially on the South coast!

Is the Midlands still on for a pounding later? Any idea what sort of time the snow may start to effect us?
Not sure about 'pounding' maybe a bit later though if the front can push far enough North,.

I love reading the forums BUT I get hope for a dump of snow as others have, I am left feeling very envious of others wins. Leics has failed again. we had snow, the grass is covered, but not the depths of others.
I went for a lovely walk last night, Glad I Did as the weather was superb, blowing snow in the icy wind, drifts, fabulous! Roads for a time were covered too.
we can hope for more today but I do think being so central is our downfall for many reasons. We live in hope for any snow event because there is always a chance !!
This sums up my situation. Not much fallen at all but some great drifts.

How come it's warming up outside?
Because the sun has risen

Already! You should have no issue passing 1ft, probably before midnight looking at the radar
-
What sort of level accumulations and drifts have you guys got?
-
Just been to an exposed hilly common by mine, whilst the general accumulation around here isn't great, the drifts on the common were unreal. Have a look at these.
1- entrance to the common (car park)
2- a picture of a drift
3- me knee deep in the drift
sorry, the pics aren't great.
@staffsnow you may want to head down there, it's right by yours I think.

Think I'm gonna to go for a half hour walk, not often we get to experience Blowing snow like this.

It's usually the other way, you get a pasting and we miss out. How much do you have of lying snow?
Level I'm going to say 2cm, drifting to maybe 6cm in places now.

kept it open? absolutely amazing day, proper blizzard at just 104m asl
The grass is still easily visible here, although we do have 5cm drifts in a couple of places now

From the radar you can tell West Mids will be hit pretty hard
If we can get the Northwards/Eastwards progression, expect it all to start steering WNW soon.
-
Anyone from Guernsey/Jersey, or know if it is snowing there? They would surely be getting buried if it is.

For once, that is pretty accurate
How do you know it is accurate when it hasn't came to fruition?....

3 inches In Alrewas just south of Burton, another shower just started
3 inches! That is crazy considering Lichfield has about 2cm, just goes to show its really just luck of the draw!
-
A heavier shower around Coventry, that one will miss me to my East, of course it wouldn't hit me, that would be ludicrous.

Just started snowing again with the wind really picking up
A fellow Burntwooder! I'm just up the road towards the common in Gentleshaw but work in Lichfield, where abouts in Burntwood do you live?

so far happy with this event, around 6cms in places, but it's so windy, not much in other places, not as effective as 10 Dec, as cover not as complete due to the wind
main band is way off to the SW at the moment, we getting flurries ahead of it now, similar to 17th Jan '13
6cm!! That's great considering we have 1-2cm in places at best, the grass isn't fully covered.

I agree Brennan, there are so many negative comments when the event hasn’t really started even in the SW, let alone be Midlands...users should have a more positive view and not come to hasty conclusions.
I have to disagree here. I cannot see anything happening for our little part of the Midlands.

I may go for a drive! Find it. Where is best folks? Don’t want to get stuck though heheh
I would go to the Brecon Beacons if I were you, you'd have to be VERY careful overnight though, maybe try and get an Air BnB or hotel there if it is feasible.

It says it all when i'm looking at a radar hoping a bit of light blue ppn (pink if on weather type) will come over my area.

Absolutely not i'm afraid, in fact, along with anyone in a line across to Leicester, I am sure we have done worse than anyne else in the coutnry for thsi cold spell.

The band is literally 2 miles to my south, this is a joke.
