For me, I need a degree of energy throughout the day to maintain comfort wearing one layer or no layers. A couple of days ago the temperature hadn’t changed by about 7 pm but my body felt cold, and I had to put on a couple of layers to feel comfortable. Low humidity also adds to a sense of being cold. This morning I’m quite happy to be wearing next to nothing I. 17C but I doubt I can keep that up the whole day.
it’s raining here BTY

Remarkable amount of blue sky with sunshine and 22C here in mid-somerset for possibly the best Saturday since June. Grabbing this while it lasts!

I must stop looking at the long-term forecasts- it doesn’t show any change for the next two weeks.
I have caught a cold.

Tiny cracks of blue today allowing incredibly short sunny periods of about 30 seconds about once an hour.
I’ve mown the lawn, though!

We were stuck under the chain of showers moving northeast today - not enough to make it a washout and relatively pleasant.

Somerset has fared well over the past three days with hardly a shower, and plenty of sun yesterday (Friday) - so much I got burnt. It’s deeply unfortunate that the worst weather seems to uniformly roll round for Saturday presently.

It’s not been too bad the last two days here in Somerset- dry and quite warm and a decent amount of sun. Certainly better than forecast. Not looking forward to the weekend, though.

So far this summer mid-Somerset has had about one thunderclap that I’m aware of. Really disappointed considering all the forecasts we’ve had.

25C is pretty much perfect in my eyes. I’m quite happy up to 30C.

I’ve just looked at the met office medium term forecast and glad I’ve booked a week away in August. It seems the heat dome down south is causing this long run of UK weather to continue into August at the earliest……. And cooler next week

Somerset has big clouds with showers that seemingly bank up just as the sun comes out again. Yesterday was worse with plenty of grey skies and downpours. Curiously Saturday was much better. I’m getting tired of this now. My water butt is full.

I can cope as long as the temperatures are high teens or 20s. This is still Bette than about ten years ago when I was in double layers at 14C in August.

I’ve been in Southern Spain until last Tuesday so I’m experiencing a comedown weather wise - I guess we might be lucky to have water reserves in Somerset at least. I have a neighbour bravely attempting mowing in the drizzle.

The lack of thunderstorms has been the big disappointment in Somerset. But I can’t complain about the sun and warmth bar the short aberration last week. Unfortunately that is likely to occur again.

Short sharp storm just watered my garden and freshened up the air.

We just had a short sharp rainstorm go through - with a couple of thunderclaps nearby. Looking at my radar there’s a few in Somerset/Dorset moving in into Wiltshire.

Pesky cloud layer now being forecasted to stick around longer than Met office said yesterday…… not breaking up yet but will get my wind blasters out and point them at the sky.

Best day for ages here…. Vast numbers of people out to grab hold of proper summer weather.

Yes, this year certainly hasn't all that great for homegrown crops. A dry and frosty April followed by a wet and soggy May, and 3 months later a very mediocre August.
My tomatoes this year are an early fruiting variety and they’re my best crop ever . They reached their best point during the hot week so they ripened beautifully. I’m still picking them now.

The sheer negativity this year that we’ve had to endure has, I’m sure, been part of our disappointment in the weather. Last years long periods of warmth and sun took the edge off the horrors of the pandemic and everything else, but the leaden skies just reflect how a lot of us feel at the moment.
Remarkably varied here today, though. Bland a.m. but sun and rain since then giving some variety and more interesting skyscapes.

Three dryish days next week after a deluge this weekend. Bank Holiday weekend now looking wet.
The working week looks great I’ll just hope that low creeps a bit further north for the BH.

Mid somerset had a long break in the clouds after about 3.30 yesterday making the rest of the day sunny and pleasant, which was a nice surprise. It seems very localised- if you are lucky to get a break it warms up but otherwise loads of cloud about for many areas.
I do remember an August much worse than this about six years ago where the cloud was incessantly low and thick with heavy rain - and much colder than presently- 14C 15C max some days. This isn’t great but it’s better than then.

Reading all the above makes me feel lucky to be in my area where we had a good day yesterday, and three decent sunny days in a row a week ago, even if they were breezy and below average temperatures.
Ghastly here today and my cold has gone into full bloom so I’m hankering down.
