  1. Looking at the radar seems a couple of lines where convection is starting to start back down the lines to the south and east.
  2. Towers going up to west (the stuff over Welshpool) south west and now directly south of Shrewsbury. Looks like a little line forming...
  3. mean you say zzzzz I say bring it on today was great. Took my lad out on a 60 mile chase around Shropshire/Wrexham and he loved it. One strike so close on the car he was headed down to the footwell to hide
  4. Well I’m at the end of my little chase today, went across to Whitchurch and down A49 though another small storm and back to where I started where it’s 18 degree still and still feels oppressive. Now looking back west To the storms building on the M54 corridor. Photo take three mins apart to show how they are building. Photos below. Great fun in Shropshire today when the big beast came through.
  5. Just got to Ellesmere through some very dicey roads. Right under the storm now. What’s notable about this storm is that’s there are very few CG strikes. But it’s constantly rumbling right above and the rain is relentless. Might cut north towards Whitchurch now.
  6. Heading to Ellesmere now to watch it come towards there. If we can beat it. It’s bloody amazing. Staying south out of the rain.
  7. This storm is mental. Came west of Shrewsbury now still south of it and out of the rain. And it’s Constantly thundering right above us and flashes of lightening to the the north . CHs. Purple. Crazy. Rain coming so might have to move again.
  8. Moved east to be in front of new more electrified storms coming up from much Wenlock. Stopped and can hear the thunder 10 miles away. Going to head towards Telford a bit more and as it looks mean!
  9. Have come out south of Shrewsbury to see the storms approach. Now top of a hill in TORRENTIAL rain. Not lightening or thunder though. But it’s a big rain producer.
  10. If you end up coming this way, the good news is the roads are still super quiet at the moment so chasing in Shropshire east or west on A5 or North and South on A49 should be less stress than usual. That said the one place travel is a mare at the weekend is Church Stretton and the roads through the Longmynd as its packed with people getting out of town for a walk. If your looking to see things approach from the south, then I can recommend Bayston Hill as a good place to pull up and watch from. I could head out tomorrow also as things look exciting.
  11. Storm as it was approaching shrewsbury... still going now as it heads north east
  12. Storm has come across Shrewsbury and is very slow moving. Flashing and crashing all about as it absolutely chucks it down!! Clouds moving in all directions.
  13. Considering he just drove down the wrong side of the road for a stretch I’m not sure safety looks like his key priority
  14. Never comfortable watching a stream as someone drives into something like that with debris in the air and the last thing you hear before it cut off is “wait....what’s that...”

  16. Nations where Football is suspended Italy - Austria - Portugal - USA -Holland Nations where Football will be behind closed doors France - Spain - Poland - Greece - Belgium Nations doing absolutely nothing......... England - Scotland - Wales
  17. Shame to lose that thread if its gone forever, quite an historic record of how things were developing and people on here reporting in local areas. Glad it has a replacement as this has been somewhere with sensible reporting and really good debate, without the histrionics elsewhere.
  18. A German footy game being shown on BT sport now. All behind closed doors. Very very odd... I can 100% see that happening here after this weekend...
  19. The only way it might be unfair is say in European comps. If one country has banned fans but the other has not... In the UK if its over a few weeks it would balance out. Be a very unique and weird situation for fans in our country...
  20. Away from the "big clubs" there is the entire football league and non league structure to consider. No amount of "watch it at home on TV or at the pub" will be applicable for anyone outside of the premiership. For the 100s and 100s of games in that part of the structure you have hundreds of thousands of people going all around the country every weekend. If those games are called off or played behind closed doors its not a bad idea if your trying to stop spread. People will really only be able to hear results on the BBC local radio (if lucky) or just after the event. No packed out pubs, just people staying at home. The packed out pubs is a weird one any way, there are only maybe 6/8 games on TV every weekend anyway. I agree they are usually busier pre match at everywhere I have ever been. I speak as a ST Holder and regularly away fan for Shrewsbury Town, if its the right call to ban fans, but keep playing out the season, I will take it with good grace and respect the call. We are not there yet though, but if you look at cycling in Italy which has now just lost the San Remo classic today and likely puts huge pressure on Giro as well as all football and Rugby for weeks behind closed doors if you get up to say 500 cases and a reasonable spread, its going to happen... But no reason with the right precautions at clubs seasons cant be finished...
  21. They didn’t do that in 2000 but should have. Was working for M and S at the time and due to the power in town getting cut off due to floods at about 1pm the police had to evacuate the entire town Center! Everyone out over duck boards in Frankwell and Abbey Foregate or kingsland bridge or the Dana. They were only routes out! mad day. After a lull noticed river is on the rise down at Newtown and Welshpool tonight. Tomorrow’s, what might be disastrous, peak building now. Going to push all time record on the Severn from Newtown to Worcester! Kids school shut tomorrow and probs Wednesday. Will get out and take some more photos tomorrow.
  22. Shrewsbury is a mess at the moment. just been out for a walk as the kids school had to do an emergency closure as it’s right next to the flooding (Where these photos are taken) sirens regularly, lots of places closing early and staying closed tomorrow and talk around time that records could be broken.... it’s already worse than last week and we have a peak tonight and another possibly higher peak tomorrow night.
  23. Been out at a village on the river west of Shrewsbury and the river is now a fast flowing lake already and won’t peak untill tomorrow! It’s going to be really bad in Salop next two days!
  24. Its not quite as bad as last night, but all the roads into two are still closed, though one of them could be open to get in and out of town (shut for traffic control reasons) Never did reach the historic peak of 5.25 topping out at 4.88 but thats bad enough.... going to take a few days to clear, and to be hones the situation of concern has moved down to Ironbridge where they have a Severe Flood Warning and it might overtop the barriers before 10pm tonight...
  25. Yeah fairs to say Shrewsbury having the worst floods for a long time.... just down the road from me... not been this bad for a very long time and lots of property and retail unit flooding....
