been light for a while - now moderate, everything getting covered - perhaps the heaviest slightly to the west, Oxfordshire way....according to rainradar a good 2 hours on the way at least...

Yay in the decent stuff now, looks like it has come down from from the west mids. Prob about 1-2 inches so far..

similar here, but getting heavier now..although not sure the heavy stuff from Brum will reach here.

still been pathetically skinny snow here - been in the light echos for ages.
Raintoday has suddenly gone premium on me...weird,but good.

snow staggered its way here at last -only taken about 3 hours from Oxford. v v light though at the moment...

i got very lucky with the snow on the 18th dec 2010 the snow line stopped about 5 miles to the north of me, wonder if i will get lucky again
new bbc graphics are out and it shows snow at 6pm for a lot of the midlands then maybe it turns back to rain later
Remember that day in 2010 - crazy 2 hours of snow saturday afternoon and an interesting drive from ours to Kempston on the Sunday morning!!!
Famous last words...'Oh they will have cleared the new A421 by now' LOL....

Well done to weather guy on Radio 5 for mentioning the squall line. Not hard to explain it!

Ditto from just down the road. On raintoday radar looks about the heaviest rain on the squall line.

On train to work. The snow line was between berkhamsted and Hemel
Quite snowy back in LB when I left home. Couple of cms on the end? Wonder if Luton airport will be affected?

Not that heavy snow here, but covering cars, roofs, grass etc.
Can't see major routes being affected though.

Light snow up the road here too. Don't think it will settle apart from grass and car windscreens though!

Just light rain here still - no floaty bits as yet, but heaviest rain yet to arrive which will most likely turn to snow.

Areas for snow at most risk are western-central-southern England & Wales but the risk extends all across the southern half of the UK albeit the very far south!
That sounds like when I was growing up in Bournemouth - snow apart from the south coast...boo!!
should see some in Beds, where I am now though.

Peter - I reckon more wind less snow for you, probably more snow than wind for me. Although I'm sure Luton (about 8m away) and the airport which is up on a hill (about 200m ASL) will have some problems.
Assuming the snow will track eastwards anyway from where it is forecast to start in the west?

Well by the looks of the BBC1 forecast, my run to the station at 7am tomorrow morning is not going to be pleasant!!

Note to self - on your usual run to the station, try not to run through a squall line..
Did this about 6.50am this morning, bad idea. Currently drying clothes off at work in London!

Yep trying to get to sleep here. More windy than I expected. Shame as I don't like wind much as I do alot of running- its bloody annoying !!

And the Mont St Michel is on it's way from Pompey to Caen currently doing 14kts east of the south tip of the IOW according to AIS.
I'm surprised with the forecast it didn't stay in Pompey.

Yep - suppose its just wind they don't like...hope they don't encounter it. Interesting route to be on now!

Answering my own question....yes the ferry was due to leave Caen 11pm.
Wonder if you would be allowed out on deck tonight LOL...bit soggy, but good for viewing lightning!

Took the late Caen - Pompey ferry a few years ago - not sure if it is still running....but it would be taking a right pasting about now!

Been snowing for about 3 hours here too, probably about an 3-4 cms. Everything covered.
Funny how the snow intensifies over London - surely the heat island effect?
Get snow every year here in Beds - don't know why the Brighton lot are moaning - I grew up In bournemouth - you lot always got more snow than us ;-)
