  1. caught my eye in the mod thread  from Ian F

The issues Sun into Mon are especially tricky. UKV generated a plastering of snow even at lower elevations across W'rn parts of the W Country (incl adjacent Bristol Channel/M5 corridor up into Wales and SW Midlands) but considered overdone. However 00z EC gives quite a few cm in pretty much same areas, but that model automatically settles all solid phase ppn. Jury out....

I know there's been snow higher up...thats normal for winter. My beef with this spell is that it hasnt stopped bloody raining....so please excuse me if im not portraying any enthusiasm for recent conditions. Good riddance to bad rubbish .

As much as i'm fed up with the rain, this 'winter' has been heaps better than last year, no snow for me down in the valley, but i've had at least 3 frosts this year!!!! and we're so lucky in wales to have mountains close which will at some point during winter have the white stuff :D This weekend was awesome on the tops, no wind for once and feet of power, very busy too which was nice to see.

  3. Still got snow on ground garden etc.....0.7 ...

Took me daughter out on sleigh today....no snow at my house........ but 20mins up the road the western beacons are stunning...still plenty of frozen snow above 350m yet only a couple of miles away you would never know......suggest a drive up to the source of the river Tawe for any depressed snow starved in here...will try and post some pics later

  4. Morning...anyone know how's the beacons looking....thinking of dragging me kids round on their sleigh...is there any covering at storey arms etc?? ta

ps had quite a few snow showers last night..... none on the ground now though

  5. According to Jo

"It is a polar low, they aren't that rare, it is like a trough line but gets its own circulation, caught in the flow south. Met OFfice have said it is a polar low for those who are waiting on Ian F's opinion. MO model moves it across NI and then Wales with heavy PPN"

have seen the debate since....but still it popped up at short notice and must have a consequence for the future weather.....looks like my location is just going to have wind/rain:(......but those a bit further inland might be in for a treat :).......I live in hope though
