  1. Went out the front half and hour ago and watched as the snow started the steady drip of the roof. The snow readily turning to rain.

Here we are half and hour later and the snow is coming down hard and fast and obviously lying on the substantial snow that was already there.

Middle one at school in Crieff, anybody any idea as to the snow situation up that way?

  2. is that the stuff thats over ireland on the radar just now

The band just out off the west coast. Radar still shows showers here and that is exactly what we have. It is not heavy by any stretch of the imagination but it is constant. The road outside the house continues to get covered with the B road (Feddal) accumulating a fair bit but getting moved about a bit by the odd bit of traffic. The main road remains clear.

  3. It will be interesting to see what accumulation we get here in Braco. The snow that fell during the week is still well and truly here, there has been no thaw at all. With my limited knowledge I am thinking that the front will move through quite quickly with the snow turning to rain before the day is out.

Fortunately I have no issues with flooding where I am but I feel for those that have a flood risk, lying snow and the possibility of a rapid thaw.

  4. Snow on again just when I thought it was all over! Looking forward to boarding at Glenshee Thursday, as long as they get the road open. :-P

Slightly confused as to why Maitland has got so much more than me, only about 5 miles NE of here and slightly lower altitude. How does that work?

Just had a wee look at the altitude for Braco and Dunblane. Front Street (The lowest part) is 367 feet. My house 397 feet. The train station in Dunblane is 184 feet. I didn't realise that it was as much as 200 feet or so in difference.

  5. A very slight covering overnight here in Braco. It is desperately trying to snow again but we have very very light snow. I had expected very low temperatures overnight with heavy frost but this just hasn't transpired.

I note the BBC has predicted heavy snow on Friday and am wondering whether that deep low will make it's way across Scotland over the weekend.

I must admit I was wondering that myself. Even the next village up (Greenloaning) has less snow than us. Both myself and the good lady have been up and down through Dunblane twice today and it was raining but the minute we passed Balhaldie (The garage) it started to snow. Very strange. It is still snowing here when I expected a clear sky and the temperatures to drop.

  7. Still snowing here. Looking at the Met Office charts I see that the Atlantic low pressure has been put back reaching us by about 24 hours. I do have a keen interest in the weather but have little knowledge of reading models. however isn't that LP going to cause some serious problems given the fact that it will meet the cold air and with strong winds lead to some further problems?

  8. Now snowing for 27 hours and just shy of 10 inches. Drive cleared again and about to have a wee run out to Stirling. The road outside the house hasn't been ploughed but a lot of it has been cleared by hand by the neighbours.

Once out of the estate the roads look to be absolutely fine. Kids got to Crieff High fine and the Wee Man down to the primary. Even go the dog out for his 3 mile walk around the Castle Drive, all very wintry and lovely.

  9. Still snowing here in Braco. That is now 24 hours and it is forecast to snow most of the day. The drive and the car is once again covered and there must be somewhere near 10 inches of snow out there. I will get out and measure it at some point.

Kids are all still at school apparently. Not sure how Crieff is looking but suggest it must be clear given that the school is open and teachers can get there.

Again it is still falling short of 2010 standards but if it continues to snow you just never know. Back out with the snow shovel this morning.
