  1. Still snowing here quite heavily. Looks like I may have to get out again and get the drive cleared. Schools are still in although my eldest daughters tells me that Crieff is suffering from heavy snow but maybe she is just looking for the afternoon off.

Interesting to see if this weather is to deteriorate later on this afternoon as I am led to believe that the snow is a little behind schedule.

  2. Roughly 3 inches here. Just cleared the drive and the car. The snow was heavy until about 9am but we are now having light snow that is not sticking to the cleared paths. As somebody alluded to before I wonder if this is going to be a non event.

Two eldest off to school on the bus (disgusted) and the youngest at primary school (disgusted).

  3. A friend of mine from Devon has just informed me that her daughters school has been closed tomorrow due to the possibility of the serious weather. My children are a little miffed that they will be attending school as usual.

I have to admit that after reading the MT (I don't know enough to post) I was getting a little confused as to whether it was coming this far north but it would appear not.

I still read the MT in the hope that some of the knowledge imparted there may rub off a little.

  4. Heavy snow here last night with light flurries this morning. Remnants of the snow still on the grass and pavements.

With me limited knowledge of the models it looks as though we could be in for some serious weather on Friday and Saturday. The pressure appears particularly low yet the Met Office doesn't appear to be making a big deal of it. I assume I am reading it wrong?

  5. Don't post much as I have little knowledge of the models but continue to lurk in the vain hope that I may learn something.

May I just take this opportunity to wish all those across this forum a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

  6. Dusting here in Braco (Just north of Dunblane). Still snowing at an alarmingly slow rate. The road outside the house still has about an inch of compacted ice that has been there for the last last two weeks.

What I haven't seen before on the bowling green in the village is the amount of ice. The last short thaw melted the snow but due to the ground being saturated it had nowhere to go and sat on the top, it then froze and has turned the bowling green into a pretty impressive curling rink. This didn't even happen in the bad winter of 2010. The forecast of "mild" weather may even struggle to shift the ice before our next bout of cold weather.

  7. I wonder if he's watching the sattellite and misinterpreting the movement that way - either way he'll be glad he's an amateur if (when) he's wrong!

    That is all !!"

I blocked him months ago as some of his postings leave me shaking my head. He is known as Windy Wilson and has thousands of followers on Facebook.

  8. Still no rain here in Perthshire but the winds have been pretty impressive. I live on the edge of some woods and much to my amazement there has been no damage at all. I suspect it has been gusting in excess of 70mph yet there are no branches in the garden and no trees down.

I believe that we are still looking at gusts in excess of 70mph for the next couple of hours and they are still forecasting heavy rain.

It will be interesting to see the official figures for this area once things calm down. Roads are all passable with nobody in the village reporting any problems at all.
