  1. topped out at 12C but 9C now, rain is off - hooray! Scrub that rain is back on...no off...no on...
  2. Temps are so variable, it's about 4.5C here but over three degrees more just down the road. Still a few inches of snow slowly dying on the ground so maybe that's the difference.
  3. I'm about 75m asl and I have over 200mm of snow outside - you can get stats to say what ever you want to but at the end of the day they are only percentage risks/ occurrences. If everything was all so just so I'm afraid us guys wouldn't have so much to talk about/ chest bump about!! It's weather, the chaos of entropy in action!
  4. Aye but in the MT it only counts as a 'proper' winter if you have ten foot of snow and you live somewhere south of the Watford Gap. We haven't had as many days of falling and lying snow pre-Hogmanay for quite a few years. Yes, we've had some mild days in there too but there's been seasonal weather akin to winter generally since winter truly began, doesn't have to be snow does it? Can't some folk just be happy with the weather they get (except disastrous flooding obviously), a wee bit of cheer for the variation that comes with living in Great Britain. Hope casting and moaning about hopecasts are such a load of old pish, honestly, you're a long time deid! Incidentally it was the same last winter and the one before that and...a pattern emerges. Here's a pic of some winter snow today, somewhere very north of the Watford Gap. Did I say it was well over 200mm deep and still here. Hopefully at least until tomorrow morning anyway. Rant over, I'm away to play in the snow.
  5. can't get TrafficScotland to load up at all - second ice day today very seasonal.
  6. 0C with a thick fog blanket lying in the glen and cloudless blue skies above - beautiful. Temps are heading south too.
  7. Hod the bus folks...nae mare spraff aboot awe this winter stuff! Hiv ye no heard the MT have cancelled it awe. Wheesht! keep yir neb oot cause they're pure bilein, pit the lights out in they'll no see we've hid SNAW!!
  8. Oh...is there a geographical cut off for winter qualification?
  9. 11 days in and it's written off already...really?
  10. Gales followed by torrential rain followed by drastic drop in temps followed by torrential sleet followed by clear skies and ice followed by torrential sleat followed by torrential snow followed by sleat...I feel dizzy! 24 hours weather in Scotland is not for the nervous.
  11. It's a bit blawy oot! Very mild though which made the run tonight a very different animal from Sunday's freezing heavy snow. Schizophrenic weather I think may be a trend for the next week or maybe not...at least we're not all in meltdown like the MT last night, those guys need to take more joy out the weather whatever it is For a distraction - here's a picture (poor quality cause they're so fast and I was through the window and too slow) of a squirrel almost falling off the bush outside my kitchen window...bad karma for stealing the birds' fat balls Tufty!
  12. It's sitting about 2 below here - clear and icy. Such a pity the pesky rain is coming again to spoil it. I'm not really worried about getting snow to low levels I would rather have the crisp, dry cold than a slushy mess for the drive to work but as long as it doesn't rid the hills of their lovely white tops I'll be happy with anything really.
  13. Can't say the temps feel any different, than last year, so far this Autumn. Haven't had as high winds which I have been grateful for and a nice wee snow event last week was much appreciated. I look forward to winter and whatever weather it brings - hoping for hill snow at least to allow some family sliding events but trying not to dwell on it too much (that last point was a wee white lie, replace hoping for praying!)
  14. Temps heading south up here, same as the snow line on the hills. It's looking very lovely. Aonach Mor has a good cover to below the Top station.
  15. 0.5C - nostril cooling fresh air, me likey!
  16. I'm hoping for a winter just like last year with snow on the ground for almost 3 weeks and temps down to -11. There is no default UK weather just location, location, location but I guess it's good banter to hopecast.
  17. clear blue skies since 8 am this morning after a misty start. The mist rolled in again about 8 pm tonight but twelve hours of wall to wall sunshine and perfect temps is no too bad.
  18. Buy Smidge - it is scientifically proven and it also works. No need for Avon ladies either.
  19. Freezing out there today in those too frequent showers. Felt more like March than almost June. When will it warm up??
