  1. I'll keep a look-out for snowmen. Think even the GS ones are going to get rained on tonight though. I'm heading up there later tonight, blow-up mattress, sleeping bag in sleeping bag, single malt to help me sleep. dirol.gif

Had a great few hours on Hart Fell above Moffat today. Snow was so nice that it made for some of the best skiing I've ever had in Scotland away from good days in the Back Corries etc. Absolutely stunning weather for most of today too which was good because you could see the avalanche prone areas of wind slab to avoid. Some safe, steepish lines could be had above the gully drifts though. Spot the ski tracks wink.png ...

Lovely...currently 0 degrees and snow at Glenshee, hopefully they'll hang on to their 'dry winter snow' of today for my first lesson on the sticks - I'm a boarder but have embraced the skis for the sake of the kids. Enjoy your airbed avec dram!
  2. Should be seeing some shower activity around already, could be a bit marginal through tomorrow but certainly won't be lacking in precipitation whatever happens! If it's all snow there, could be about 6 inches by evening.

Thanks, it's been snowing very lightly for the last few hours - I do hope that changes over the next few hoursgood.gif
  3. Oor wee thread is growin' I see. Welcome all!

Oh shucks! looks like a goer eh?

Thanks Blitzen, oh well looks like I'll have to ramp and not rant thenrolleyes.gif !

  4. Cold and dank with a milky full(ish) moon - atmospheric for Halloween. My wee werewolves stayed bright eyed and bushy tailed whilst oot guising, soggy is not a good look. We now have enough sweets to open a shop and with the possibility of glimpsing a bright yellow thing in the sky tomorrow, life is good.

  5. Yep, sailors in the Arctic back then just went of in random direction, never really had a clue!

The change attributed to humans is done so through scientific investigations and is based on evidence and analysis. We have a pretty good hold on how natural cycles affect the ice. But I'm sure all your probables and maybes are much more likely....

If the ice begins to rebound, a lot of work will be done to figure out why. Modelling, in-situ measurements, statistical analysis, satellite analysis... ya know, all the sciencey malarkey!

There is loads of evidence for AGW, from the shifting of plant and animal species northward and into higher elevations, there's the temperature record, changes to the height of the tropopause, ocean warming, etc.

Your point of taking some comments from a blog? Because I'm sure you know well, that libraries could be filled with imbecilic nonsense spouted by deniers on a hourly basis.

It was predicted that warming would be more pronounced at the poles, which it is!

Numerous studies have been done into the solar link, even plenty of times by sceptics, trying to tie it with recent temperature changles and it just doesn't work. Despite declining low solar activity since the 60s, the oceans continue to warm.
