If you do intend to go to Glenshee, get there very early. I was stuck in a traffic jam for 1.5 hours to get past Glenshee to go to the Lecht on Sunday. Glenshee looked amazing for snow but with the crowds and queues it looked totally dismal. Good if you're into the dodgems!

I'm trying my best to ignore the weather at the moment - so I'll be surprised when I wake to that snowy silence we all crave. I guess I can't help being a glass half full kinda gal!

Lovely...currently 0 degrees and snow at Glenshee, hopefully they'll hang on to their 'dry winter snow' of today for my first lesson on the sticks - I'm a boarder but have embraced the skis for the sake of the kids. Enjoy your airbed avec dram!I'll keep a look-out for snowmen. Think even the GS ones are going to get rained on tonight though. I'm heading up there later tonight, blow-up mattress, sleeping bag in sleeping bag, single malt to help me sleep.
Had a great few hours on Hart Fell above Moffat today. Snow was so nice that it made for some of the best skiing I've ever had in Scotland away from good days in the Back Corries etc. Absolutely stunning weather for most of today too which was good because you could see the avalanche prone areas of wind slab to avoid. Some safe, steepish lines could be had above the gully drifts though. Spot the ski tracks ...

Off to Glenshee tomorrow - I vow to build a snowman in remembrance to all those who have fallen (or are currently falling) in the Central belt. Wha's like us, gie few an their awe deid!

Thanks, it's been snowing very lightly for the last few hours - I do hope that changes over the next few hoursShould be seeing some shower activity around already, could be a bit marginal through tomorrow but certainly won't be lacking in precipitation whatever happens! If it's all snow there, could be about 6 inches by evening.

what about the Howe of Fife, will it manage a few flakes too LSS?Radar is looking very good, so good in fact that Edinburgh might eventually see something other than a very occasional flake...
-
Temperature is dropping away - will it freeze in North-East Fife tonight?
-
Are you on the south or north side of the hills?Holy moly! Not seen a blizzard like this since November 2010!
-
We've had wee flakes , biggish flakes, blizzards, off and on...now we have big hailstones battering off the patio doors - what next??
-
Only breeks split...not kilts!
Oh and maybe the occasional vortex

Snawbaw: 0 warning points means you are a goody two-shoes Netweather member who NEVER has to be chastised. We all have 0 warning points on here because WE have sussed out how to get around the swear filter! Pay attention newbies, you will pick it up too!
Oh shucks! looks like a goer eh?
Thanks Blitzen, oh well looks like I'll have to ramp and not rant then !

I'm a bit of a jinx so I'll lurk until the beast comes and drags me oot the shadows of NE Fife!
?What's with the 0 warning points?

You'd be better going in armed with some dummies and rattles!

Cold and dank with a milky full(ish) moon - atmospheric for Halloween. My wee werewolves stayed bright eyed and bushy tailed whilst oot guising, soggy is not a good look. We now have enough sweets to open a shop and with the possibility of glimpsing a bright yellow thing in the sky tomorrow, life is good.

It's blowing a hoolie here in Fife, a mere draft in comparison to the eastern US. Thought I'd bite the bullet and share my opinion in this safe and sane haven - I wish other threads were as calm and coothie.

Yep, sailors in the Arctic back then just went of in random direction, never really had a clue!
The change attributed to humans is done so through scientific investigations and is based on evidence and analysis. We have a pretty good hold on how natural cycles affect the ice. But I'm sure all your probables and maybes are much more likely....
If the ice begins to rebound, a lot of work will be done to figure out why. Modelling, in-situ measurements, statistical analysis, satellite analysis... ya know, all the sciencey malarkey!
There is loads of evidence for AGW, from the shifting of plant and animal species northward and into higher elevations, there's the temperature record, changes to the height of the tropopause, ocean warming, etc.
Your point of taking some comments from a blog? Because I'm sure you know well, that libraries could be filled with imbecilic nonsense spouted by deniers on a hourly basis.
It was predicted that warming would be more pronounced at the poles, which it is!
Numerous studies have been done into the solar link, even plenty of times by sceptics, trying to tie it with recent temperature changles and it just doesn't work. Despite declining low solar activity since the 60s, the oceans continue to warm.

Just some sharp showers today. Hardly a puff of wind in Glen Garry. Certainly nothing I would try to claim as storm like. Is there more to come?
