nothing managing to land at Edinburgh yet planes still taking off from London heading to edi which I can't understand. If thought was dying down soon planes wouldn't be diverting to Germany from Edi.... amazing to see a plane take off from Shannon for a 40 min flight to edi and gonna end up on a plane for 2 and a quarter hours and land in cologne

I'm sure we've had way over-egged wind speeds forecast for storms before now - but I can't remember which models are the culprits and I'm definitely going to be the mug that says they're over-egging it again this time because I've been caught on my own in an old house when a storm has passed through in the middle of the night. I didn't sleep a wink, I ended up under a table in the kitchen!
Looks horrendous for some places tomorrow night, potentially.
Also, @Northern Strath, I was looking for suitable Gaelic names with a snowy flavour and have so far failed. Sorry, I shouldn't interfere! Our boys were born in summer so I didn't even think about this!
just go for the name blizzard
Blizzard Strath sounds a cool name

yes It has been sad to wee the thread quiet down again but some good news from northern strath to lighten the thread....
my niece was born on boxing day night 2009 we were at the folks and was a real struggle getting to nine Wells that night... was the start of a real cold spell goon on into January 10 and then we had Dec 10 so a special time.
It is worrying the lack of people clearing snow for other ls etc.... many just moan about the council when in reality they never cleared it in the past either was always people clearing theirs and others pavements and paths.
Me and my neighbour cleared all our cul de sac in 2010 and fetched grit and salt for elder neighbours....
We have never had decent tor enough snow since that such services were required... we hardly got any even in the BFTE in 2018 through shear bad luck as normally in the firing line
Anyway thread may be busy Sunday with storm reports so stay safe all.

13cm level snow now. The recent shower was fun, proper thick stuff for an hour or so. Schools shut, roads other than main roads are white for now.
Was it Saturday that we last got above freezing here? Or Sunday.
right that's it this is too much to accept.... cmon the southwesterlies

any chance of a shower blowing all the way down here later.... I would really like to see a couple of decent showers before the end of the spell but looks a forlorn hope.....
warnings out for storm on Sunday already and looks like could be quite a nasty one.
-3c still here and does look beautiful with the half cm dusting

oooh just as predicted by @Scott InghamIngham in the MT the other day.... not been in for a few days due to the gnashing of teeth. Fair play if this comes to fruition and from my back yard I'm liking the east chatter from met.

amazing pics.... I actually love that setup of showers.... its brilliant looking for the next big one instead of just a few hours of continuous snow... not that I would knock it back but it's satisfying following the radar.
If Perth feels any effects tomorrow are we looking at lunchtime onwards with the band hitting the west morning time.
