Before the mayhem ensues later, I saw someone ask about a dew point calculation on here the other day. My weather station shows temp and humidity, is there a formula to work out the dew point from these please? Ta

Something that hasn’t been mentioned. But the beeb forecast looked like there was a chance of streamers setting up along the estuary. Anyone got any thoughts on this?
I wondered about streamer potential what with the easterly winds..... hope so!

It's not a natural one, again built by the landowner of Leith Hill tower so I believe. It's also close to the source of the Tillingbourne.
This Wikipedia link talks about it:https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_Street#Tillingbourne_Waterfall
This one from the getsurrey website. Some good walks nearby:
Thanks so much John, for all that info, that's great to have! I'm always on the look out for new places to walk and things to see!

It is beautiful, I moved here 19 years ago with a three year plan!!! That's the tower that was also built by the same landowner as Leith Hill Tower. Have you ever found the waterfall between Broadmoor and Friday Street?
I've been to Friday Street but never heard of a waterfall near there?!

Saw a sat pic of last nights snow on Liam Duttons feed last night- the red is the snow cover-
In marginal events elevation is key so below it ive added the topography map of the SE-
the 2 images are uncanny in terms of likeness especially for Kent !
The scale on my height map is basically shades of orange are >100M then obviously red is higher...
Even just walking half way down Boxhill today you could see the snow wasn't as deep as the very top!

Am I the only one oblivious to the snipping/nastiness on here?! I just don't think I've noticed any? But the forum does move fast so I could've missed it!
Peace, love and snowflakes people ❤ x

Ah, glad it paid off for you and glad I could help make sure it was not a wasted trip!
I meant to have tagged you to say thank you FLW!!! I was in two minds whether to risk the icey roads but since you'd showed me it wouldn't be a wasted trip I decided to give it a go! Me and my daughter had a fab time, so thank you!!xx

If I remember, I will walk to work the way that I can see Box Hill and let you know how it looks! Nothing was settling but it was about an hour ago now!
Thank you FLW!! Snow starting to settle here in Ashtead so have higher hopes for Boxhill!

Drove from Purley Way to Dorking about 7-7:30 (was there to buy some cheap warm gear for my trip to the Canadian Rockies on Saturday) and it was raining then very very heavily sleeting then snowing at the top of Pebble Hill. Driving down into town and it turned back to sleet but now it’s snow. I think the MetO will be spot on with their ice warning, there’s so much standing water out there - massive puddles on main roads. Be safe tomorrow folks.
Might be worth me trying to get up Boxhill tomorrow then, if there was snow at the top of Pebble Hill..... that's if I don't slide back down, lol!

According to the radar, the snow is not too far away from us in Epsom /local areas.
Keep popping my head out of the door and flashing my torch. Neighbour must be wondering what the heck im up to.
I'm in Ashtead and have heavy rain and yes, keep opening front door to observe the lamppost right outside my house, lol!!

Already this morning I've lost my snow symbols on Meto, then I lost my weather warning...... But have now gained back my snow symbols and heavier ones for Thursday eve with a weather warning from today to Friday!!! Hahaha!!!! Nowcasting at it's finest and just goes to show how these systems can change within just a couple of hours, lol!!!
ETA - although my temp is currently 5.7c in Ashtead (nr Epsom) and trending up BUT look how quickly they dropped like a stone yesterday!!

I just have sleet symbols on Meto now for Leatherhead..... last Tuesday I didn't expect anything and snow (albeit not settling) and this Tuesday I expected some snow (albeit not a lot!) and now just sleet!!! Obviously this still could change but I'm not hopeful. Just got to hope that Thursday/any on going chances might happen!
