Tell the truth Paul, you were testing the new and improved Philuk Blocker!
-
Saw these today! They were amazing. Didn't have my camera with me though.

hello flagpole
is it heavy and settling?
Hi there. It's reasonable sized flakes but not heavy. Where it lands it isn't melting very fast though. Hoping it will come heavier later on <_<

Snowing in Lincoln now.
-
Light snow here now
-
I was going to say Lincolnshire for one reason....theres no hills!
Oi! We have hills!
And anywhere looks bob in weather like that. Tsk!
-
What he said ^^^^
Except the bit about Scampton, cos I ain't there. But Huuuuuuuge flakes in Lincoln B)

Hey Scott, what was the temperature at the top? It was -1c when I was up there in june so I bet it was brass monkeys!
-
Oooh I found a privet (I think) hawkmoth on the high street in Sleaford the other day. Had to move it to some nearby shrubs. Will hunt out the pics.
We often get the caterpillars on the ground lilac in our garden. They rock

Just had a massive crack of thunder here and it's been hammering it down
-
Ooo lovely. I shall have to get my butt out of bed earlier!
-
Are you sure the Elephant Man isn't hiding up that tree?
-
Hi there, what time were they taken because we had thunder about 12 miles west of lincoln at around 1pm yesterday and the clouds headed toward Lincoln. The hail that fell was awesome and there was very impressive mammatus on the back edge. Wondered if it was the same system.

pah, knock it down and build a carpark, parking up that end of town is terrible.
Only for fat short-arses who don't want to walk more than 50 yards!
-
People should take the time to visit. It's so much nicer in real life
-
Was snowing here when I woke up at 3am and is still snowing now

I agree Kelly, admittedly I'm very new to photography but I do think that they key is experimenting, playing around til you find what you feel is the best shot
I agree that experimenting is good. I think it is also true that if you have a good eye you can take a great picture whatever your camera. Often people are put off by not having the latest model etc but other people have shown what can be acheived with a little compact so just go for it I say

Thanks for your comment Wibs, and I have had similar comments, but alot of my photography is cropped in such a way, I see things differently to the perfect 'rule of thirds' and 'lead in-lead out' etc ethos. I've sold over 1000 photo's on stock libraries and had a major expose in being published as the main cover for the 'International Brain Tumor Society' brochure and newsletter.
I actually agree with Wibs there. It is annoying when something is just sliding out the side of a photo. Makes you feel you are missing out on something I guess.

Ooo I really really like the top one! I love silhouettes anyway but the plants are just so interesting. I actually think the teasels(?) look almost alien like.
The second photo looks like lots of spiky heads peering at the viewer

I did say slightly over exposed, and I wasn't critising Oon's pic, was just using them as an example of how grad filter would have helped a bit.
Sorry what I should have just said was Nice pic's Oon.
Cobblers!
There's nothing worse than false praise and no-one ever improves without constructive criticism. I can see exactly where you are coming from Louby. The scenery is so beautiful but unfortunately in the two photos you point out the sky is so very bright that it distracts your attention from the landscape.
I am sure OON would rather have relevent comments than the frankly pathetic 'nice pics' twaddle that usually prevails.
The landscapes are stunning, don't get me wrong but I read this section to learn more about photography and comments like yours help me in that.
So 4/5 OON. Off you toddle and try again! Could do better :o
-
Did you use a particular filter Kelly or have you applied some sort of effect afterwards? I only ask because the sky looks very dark on a few whilst the boats at the bottom appear bleached out.
-
just had a teeny tiny flurry of snow here
-
Two weeks time and I am flying to Dublin. I now feel sick!
-
you are right, but I was referring to people who create the original threads and not those who reply, should have made myself clearer, obviously I am a bit out of focus this morning....
lol, no worries
I will overlook the atrocious pun
