  1. They've even bought me a Mr Grumpy badge (which I actually wear with pride) as a mark of my irratability with the world in general.......we up the light levels (by 10000watts) from mid nov untill mid Jan which (in both lounges) to keep the kids and us from slipping into a drudge.

Hope you have your own wind turbine!

I have to say I am nowhere near as bad as usual this year and haven't used my lamp once. I just hope it keeps going. Shortest day soon too so that is a bit of a milestone :p

  2. Fun. It was probably raised from a chick by humans, so it's used to them. Some people keep them as pets because apparently they're very intelligent and fun. They can even talk as well as parrots, as can all crows.

Yes it's definitely aviary bred. It had no ring though so no real way of identifying it. I was a bit worried when I first saw it but it seems to be finding plenty of food and not at all lethargic. I'll keep an eye out for it though.

  3. So, I'm planning a few days out with a friend and we thought we'd go fossil hunting. He's been to Robin Hoods Bay and apart from finding me some lovely pebbles there were no fossils.

Does anyone know of any really good places we could visit?

    Thanks :wallbash:

  4. So, to follow through the logic of your approach: everything is cobblers until proven otherwise. Not much area for grey in your life is there?! You know the sort of thing: might be right, might be wrong; weighing things up; pros and cons.

You know what? It was in The Sun so it must be true! I've had an epiphany. I've seen the light! Praise the Lord!!

  5. Not really the point I was making. Just suggesting your initial response of 'cobblers' wasn't too bright. You seem to have been back-tracking ever since. Like you, I'm probably dubious as to whether this one was. Unlike you, I'm not being daft enough to rule it out willy nilly ... although I think willy was a whale.

Not back tracking at all, whatever you might hope. I didn't believe it was a GWS this morning. I still don't tonight. Can I make my opinion any clearer? B)

  6. Whilst this may or may not be a false rumour, with or without motives*, there's no reason why a GWS won't be seen around British waters sometime soon, so comments like 'cobblers' and 'silly' need to be tempered a little.

When and if it's proven to be a GWS I may temper my response until then I shall make my own mind up thankyou.

  7. Yes I managed to get that meaning first time believe it or not! Still think you shot a bit from the hip ... not that I ever do anything like that of course

Of course not! Tell me who said you would! I'll get em for you! :)

For the record I'd rather remain in the dark than someone catch it :)

  8. Hmmmmm... I can think of few NW members who I might invite for a paddle off the Isles of Scilly.

    Me too

And WiB, if you read properly I said I thought the reports were cobblers. It was my opinion. To which I am entitled as much as you. I will be delighted to be proved wrong, I think GWS are beautiful creatures but I think the two pieces of footage show a basking shark and a mako.

I hope someone manages to obtain stable, in-focus footage. It would help greatly. :)

  9. So whilst this sighting may not be true, to dismiss it simply as cobblers isn't particularly clever. It could easily be true, and if the GWS isn't here yet it probably will be in the next two decades.

I believe I said it was possible. Just that I thought it was not a Great White in this case.

The UFO comparison was not intended to be taken seriously. But there is always one.
