  1. These dangerous jellyfish have been reported on numerous beaches since storms Ophelia and Brian but found these small ones washed up on todays high tide at Morfa Bychan. (I believe they are Portuguese Man 'O War from seeing local photos.) There were also plenty of the usual jellyfish regularly washed up as well. Had to keep the dog away once spotted. Sadly there was another casualty of the storm washed up as well. Apparently seal pup casualties have been very high during the storms. Warning for viewing image: may upset some people.
  2. NW Snowdonia: After a very wet drizzly day with 14°C the brief dry spell late this afternoon has gone and rain has set back in. Very windy and increasingly gusty as well. Capel Curig currently reporting 48mph. ( I wouldn't be surprised to see that increase somewhat.)
  3. Aberdaron, along with Capel Curig top the mainland wind gusts speeds again at 78 mph. Not as high as 90mph with Ophelia. Heres at Aberdaron is why there were warnings out for tidal surges this morning.. '
  4. Certainly still blowing a hoolie here but I'm also exposed and at altitude. Not as bad as Ophelia though. Hopefully if it dies down soon we're off down the peninsula for a beach walk with dogs now the tides out.
  5. It's Wales rather than the South West taking the brunt of Brian. Gusts increased here in the last hour as the Storm centre moves across the Irish Sea. Certainly warranted a Yellow and Spring tidal surge/flood warnings for this region.
  6. Aberystwyth taking a pounding again. Capel Curig is top of the leader board for wind gusts at 70 mph. I can confirm it's a tad breezy here as my bins have gone up the lane for a nice walk again this morning.
  7. Accu-weather source for current and forecast data apparently. Maybe some rogue observation stations in there amongst the pucker ones !?!
  8. Quite! Hence my question but Met Office says 62mph earlier in Shawbury.
  9. Anyone know the source & accuracy of their data. Observations and metar data appear to be from weather stations but higher than reported here on NW? http://skylinkweather.com/metar/metar-hilo.php
  10. I see Capel Curig matches Aberdaron for the max gust today in Wales at 90 mph
  11. Flood warnings are out for Tidal surges for most of the Welsh coast. Almost high tide in Abersoch with big swell. http://84.21.128.93/cgi-bin/guestimage.html
  12. Some "sandy" rain must have fallen.. earlier tweet from Midlands Today weather presenter..
  13. Ditto.... sky is the weirdest of colours.
  14. Sandsend Nr. Whitby Yorkshire last night.
  15. A work colleague is jetting off to holiday in Cancun Mexico early this morning. It looks like they'll just about be landing before Nate hits them early on Saturday. Could be a very bumpy ride.
  16. I see Aberdaron just down the Llyn is topping the list at 60mph. It's getting pretty gusty here too at 719' inland. I expect to see Capel Curig making an entry into the top 10 soon.
  17. Heavy rain here in Snowdonia for the last couple of hours. Wind not too bad yet but gusts upward of 35-40 at nearby weather obs stations.
