  1. Check the radar - snow showers moving into E Anglia and the Cheshire gap as predicted by 10.30pm weather. Could be a bit of covering in the morrow

Evening fine wine - Beep 10.30 weather said East Anglia will hang on to snow showers tomorrow, and will be very reluctant to clear away/die out.....

I haven't seen a flake yet, so all 11 fingers crossed

Theres no need to stick the knife in, I'm welling up here.

    :D Sorry Paul - 60 hours time.............

    50/60% chance for you :cold:

  2. I would laugh it it all f'cked up and nothing happened other than rain, no really i would so many people would be hanging themselves.

:D You would have to be in an extremely unstable and unbalanced state of mind bordering insane, deranged and psychotic, to have to consider ending your life because rain fell and not snow. LOL :D Words like lunatic, off your rocker, round the bend, maniac, nutcase and demented come to mind!

If I get some snow I will :cold: be delighted, and if I dont get snow I will be pleased for the other cunning, scheming and sly NW members who have pinched my snow from under my watching eyes

  3. Is it all up for London and the SE then? it certainly looking now that we will get nothing on Wednesday morning and sleet if we are lucky Thursday. I am seriously depressed now :whistling:

No, not at all HighPressure. I have a gut feeling these lows will be 100/200 miles further south, so areas along the M4 corridor, South Wales, East Anglia may see most of the snowfall. All in all looking potentially great for all of us at some point. As TEITS said earlier, lots of satellite watching!!

The best advice is 2 watch the FAX charts from now on for this week and BBC weather forecasts. Looks like the snow will stay south of Birmingham and anywhere away from the south coast atm.

I'll be watching the FAX charts Surrey from now on in, there's far more detail on troughs/features/lows etc..... I agree with you that most of the snow will be south of Birmingham as a result from these small lows. (My hunch is that the GFS has proggd the lows to far North). My guess at the moment for potentially skip full's of snow would be from South Wales Eastwards through to Suffolk.

BBC 10.35 forecast quoted 'Potential for significant amounts of snow across England and Wales on Thursday'.

Hhhmmmm - looking very good for somewhere

  4. Cold air being pushed out though before the fronts arrive..

Very similar to the 12z though so expected but not the same as the UKM and ECM take on things :)

Pressure upto 1030mb over Scandy at 114hrs

Cold being pushed back into eastern England!!!!!

This is a great run so far for cold lovers! It's nice to see the growing potential for a rather more prolonged cold spell, with the Atlantic never quite making it across our shores. 850hpa air always below -7C across extreme East of UK with the cold air retreating Westwards towards end of week.

I'm over the moon at the recent model runs, a rapturous applause for the GFS 18hz!!!! :drinks:

The reliable looks very good, are there more upgrades for even colder temperature's just around the corner?? :D

Your life is running the same cycle as me a few years back. My 2 were born in April and End of May :shok: Dont these children know there is a Storm Chase Season, anyhow now i have me 3 girls all under 7 my Chasing does not get affected and will be out for a Month in 115 days time :( And this WILL Be the year of the long awaited F5 (8 LONG YEARS)

    Paul Sherman

Contragulations on your 3 little girls.

:( I hope this is the year for you Paul, a real shame I can't be there with you and the team, would love to see an F5  < really is how I feel!! Especially after Saturday evening's Tornado :(

I'll be a member of NW the rest of my days, and I know I will be out there to experience the real deal soon!! :( I've started saving already, well November actually, £20 a week, so should have a nice amount in savings (For chasing 2008) before baby gets here and I have little spare to save. House is up for remortgage this september too :(

  6. Shame you don't have pictures Kelly, nethermind. I'm also very interested as this would have been the developing storm that gave apparently quote by Julie on Look East weather 'a few tornadoes' in and just around Haverhill. Always keep your camara on you Kelly, if not for you, for us please :(

I only wish it was light here at the time, I could have had some of the best pictures to show Paul, really could :shok: I remember looking up at the clouds as the tornado/s moved through when the winds were ferocious and the clouds were low, moving around in all directions at incredible speeds like low thick smoke. Just amazing!! Why does the really exciting weather happen when dark?? so I can't get good pic :(

This event has really rubbed salt in the wound as I really wanted to go America this year with Paul Sherman and the team to experience supercells, tornado's, hail, extreme weather............BUT can't this year.........my wife is expecting begining of April. I will be going before I'm 30 (3 years time). :(

  7. Wow! That is one awesome image! I had a bad storm experience on Saturday. It was afternoon, raining lightly and I was down in our barn getting the horses stables ready for the night, as we were expecting that big storm. Suddenly, there was a cloud burst so intense , it created a flash flood down our fields, like a raging river. Something that has never happened before, even in heavy rain. I hurridly caught my mares and foals in and began to desperately dig a trench to stop our barn and workshop being flooded. Then there was the most terrifyingly bright flash of lightning and deafening clap of thunder. I dropped my metal shovel and bolted into the barn to calm my very frightened girls. It was the only flash of lightning but the flash flood got worse . Luckily my husband and some wonderful neighbours rushed down and diverted the river. I had a snow hurricane last year, that was exciting too!

    Thanks for your post.

Would love to experience a snow hurricane, although I must say there quite rare in Suffolk. :)

  8. :)

Some typing errors in there for sure. This is what they really meant to write............

" -1C Forecast - SLIGHT FROST Is On Its Way "

ATLANTIC Conditions with temperatures as low as -1C are forecast for next week. Meteorologists gave warnings that sub zero temperatures and sleet would hit the country (especially Telford) and that a band of Hail showers would bring misery to millions. No snow would fall in Britain whistling.gif with East Anglia and the East Midlands the worst affected by mild and rain. The cool snap will strike from next Winter.

Piers Corbyn, a long range forecaster (Hopecaster) with WeatherDreams said, From the 10th January 2008 rain and hill sleet will sweep across from the North West, getting milder from the 14th. It could be very bad in eastern parts of England with no sleet at all. Temperatures will drop to about -1C in the Scottish Mountains!

    :)

  9. Hi everyone, pictures taken Sunday morning after the freak tornado that ripped through Haverhill through to Great Yeldom. This Hotel is two minutes drive from my house, I live 1 mile away (if that). I didn't bother taking pictures of fences/trees down etc as we've all seen that before, these are far more impressive!!

One night I won't forget in a hurry for sure, winds reminded me of October 1987. The description my family/friends gave (all live in Haverhill) 'Sounded like a Train'. I can still picture the moment it happened, scared the s*** out of me, my wife and my house! Thought our roof was going to go any minute.

These pictures I've taken are of The Hotel Inn on the Bypass in Haverhill. Whilst I were taking these pictures, News24 were doing a live report (roughly 12.25pm, I recognised the reporter too) I'm also sure I saw Sky News there, but can't confirm. Anglia News were also there.

Pictures below - some of Hotel Roof Off, windows blown out and parts of the metal roof wrapped around a tree!! :shok: Now you all know why I was ssssssoooooooo excited. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!
