  1. Huge storm pushing up from the south over Lowestoft. It's a very active cell, lots of lightning within it! About time we saw some of the action
  2. Just driven to work in Colchester from Lowestoft and there is a fair bit of snow with a lot of drifting south of Blythburgh; looks like it fell during today. The Lowestoft snow Shield is holding up well as usual.
  3. What a nice surprise here in Lowestoft. Out of nowhere there is fairly heavy snow falling with no immediate signs of letting up, temp has gone from +1.5 to +0.3 within quite a short space of time. We have missed out in so many of the previous cold spells yet it finally looks like its our turn! We have done very well indeed over the weekend and I honestly thought yesterday's dumping was the last of it. So happy to see that we may have a few more surprises in store,
  4. We don't want that precipitation on Friday to reach us. The further west it stays the better chance we have of locking ourselves into prolonged cold. If we miss out Friday bigger things will definitely be around the corner for us in the east!
  5. GFS 00z very similar to 18z. Looks like there is still to much energy heading east unfortunately. UKMO imminent, hopefully it will throw us a lifeline and follow on from that stellar 12z.
  6. Blimey that makes a change for Lowestoft! I'm at work in Colchester tonight and still nothing here, the drive home tomorrow should be interesting. EDIT - Looks like the area between the main front and the trough in the North Sea is triggering a few showers to move down the coast. Looks as though more may be on the way for those right on the coast.
  7. Looks like a trough is forming north of the Norfolk coast. Quite an area of precipitation showing up there! Also interesting goings on just off the east coast, looks like it will only clip extreme eastern areas though..
  8. Eyes down for the 00z! Lets hope it is consistent with the superb 18z.
  9. Phenomenal charts from UKMO. The game is still most certainly on!
  10. GFS also flipped from cold to mild. We just need to wait this out with a level head.
  11. Tom, all models have been consistent, any one of them could be wrong, including GFS!
  12. I must admit there has been some very childish posts in here this evening. I think people are forgetting that the weather drives the models...not the other way round! At the end of the day data is fed in, a few numbers crunched and out pops a pre programmed solution. I think it is a really fascinating time watching the way the models are dealing with this set up and I'm sure all will become more apparent as the next few outputs roll out. The differences between the big players are actually very small within the 120hr timeframe, but these small differences cause huge changes further down the line. I'll be watching the 00z's with great anticipation, we should have a roller coaster of a day model watching coming up!
  13. Snowing thick and fast in Lowestoft now. Settling nicely too! I think the snow shield may have finally fallen; we never get snow like this!
  14. Well we had snow right on the coast here in Lowestoft last night from those showers running down the North Sea. We were incredibly lucky as we were just far enough east to catch a few of them. There was a light dusting on the ground this morning and I am barely a mile from the sea with an altitude of around 30m. I wouldn't write this event off for coastal areas just yet, especially with the flow being off the cold land as opposed to the sea!
  15. Look at the last couple of frames of FI thoughI (just for laughs of course.) the cold from the PV just comes flooding down from the NW. I think overall it's a pretty good run, the trends are still heading the right way!
  16. Excellent output from the 0z GFS, much colder uppers floodng down from the north in the semi reliable. Looks like we could be in for a good run here!
  17. Lowestoft seems to be at the extreme north of the precipitation however we just had an amazing thunderstorm, at its peak there were flashes of lightning every 20-30 seconds. If anything the bulk of the rain seems to have pulled slightly further north than predicted.
  18. Wow totally unexpected, another 2cms of snow fell here in Lowestoft last night. Makes a change! Woohoo!
  19. I notice there is a cold front approaching from the East. Will this produce anything for EA?
  20. The air higher up is above freezing due to the warm front so the snow is melting before it reaches the ground.
  21. It seems that any precipitation heading our way in EA is quickly fizzling out before it reaches the North Norfolk Coast. If you watch the radar for the past 3 or 4 hours it never gets any further south than this. I must admit I still don't think we'll see a lot here in EA, but I'd love to be proved wrong.
  22. Dry as a bone here in Suffolk even though the radar is showing intense PPN right over me. The radar is having a tough time with the pressure being so high.
  23. Back in Lowestoft now. Must be around 3" here and it's still snowing lightly! Woohoo
