I spoke too soon! Getting quite heavy again now.
-
Fizzling out near Norwich now. Was hoping it would persist a bit longer! Can't complain though, a good 2-3 inches outside!
-
I take it its game on now in Lowestoft?!
-
Be thankful you have dandruff, some of us are still waiting for snizzle.
Still no action in Lowie then EC?
-
Really coming down in Norwich. It hit me on the way to work around the Acle area at 9:40ish, It will imminently be hitting the far eastern coast!
-
Nothing yet in Ipswich, please please say it will reach me! I've been like a child at Christmas all day!
Patience! It will imminently by the looks of the radar.

I like your Avatar Ian. I'm thinking that is Herringfleet Mill. Don't worry about the snow because I have a feeling for once in our lives Lowestoft will be at the very top of the list of heaviest falls tonight and tomorrow. That front is working out perfect for us.
Herringfleet Mill indeed! One of my favourite places. Totally agree with you though, this type of event is very rare in Lowestoft and I for one am going to make the most of it!
-
Guys less of the pessimism! It is going to snow, no way are we going to avoid it. Remember the precipitation is waaaay ahead of the actual front itself so initially it will be very light. Heed Weathermaster's post, we are going to be in for a very exciting night, even us in the far east.
-
Not liking the front's leading edge weakening as it plows east, could end up with a damp squib of an event out here if the back edge doesn't come through in the early hours of the morning.
I'm actually positive on this one, still plenty of energy left in it yet! Looks like it has finally fully occluded as well so no warm sector to worry about and some serious precipitation in the centre. I think we should all be in for a good covering tonight!
-
Snowing quite heavily here in Suffolk. Must admit its a tad unexpected! Not complaining though!
-
I'll be on night shift in rural Norfolk on Saturday Night/Sunday Morning. Getting home to Lowestoft could be fun if the NAE is anything to go by!
-
Just to put your minds at ease but if you look at all the output today this regions continues to be in the firing zone. My only concern at the moment is those in the extreme E i.e Norwich who might see the front weaken considerably.
The radar tonight is looking impressive around the wash!
Still in the wrong place for most of us in EA...Cambs and Lincs northwards could do well out of this one though. The same streamer event was in place over the wash last night as well. I don't understand why nothing seems to come in over the far eastern coasts of Norfolk and Suffolk.
-
I think the radar may wake up again soon over this region, lots of small showers are beginning to crop up off the North Norfolk coast, and it appears the precipitation is following more of a NNE-SSW track than last night. Fingers crossed!
Quite a large area of precipitation over the North of the Netherlands too...lets hope it heads our way.
-
Luton is probably going to be in for a good pasting. Its a lot more marginal for the likes of me in Lowestoft on the east coast!
-
i know its on all of them? not sure whats going on but how can it be a system error if its on all of them?
The MetOffice run the radars in the UK and other organisations around Europe use the data from them.
-
What!
Must be an error. That kind of precipitation surely can't suddenly crop up over 15 mins?? There was no trace of it on the previous frame.
-
I just need to get out of Lowestoft! Every time there is an easterly we are warned that the east coast is going to get a good pasting of snow. However come the event itself it usually happens 20-30 miles inland. I guess there is such a thing as being too far east!
I've got my eyes on the radar just hoping that some precipitation crops up a little farther south tonight.
-
I wonder if theres any chance of Norwich/Lowestoft catching some of the fun. The Wash is getting it all again, same every year!
-
Typical. Just look at the rain radar now. Two streamer events going on (one in Kent and the other into East lincs) and East Anglia slap bang in the middle of no mans land between the two. How come we never get that kind of set up in this region??!
-
Wintry precipitation has yet to reach my end of Lowestoft yet, it's overcast but not snowy .
I'm at the north end and its the same really, there was a very light (and I mean VERY light) shower around 30 mins ago but its hardly worth mentioning. It looks like the coast from the Wash upwards are getting all the fun again, even though that weak occlusion is over us as well. The Metoffice is showing light showers tonight but I'd take that with a pinch of salt.
-
It always seems like Lowestoft misses out. Funny really considering we are as far east as it gets!
EDIT : Spoke to soon. Come over very dark all of a sudden with very light snow falling
-
Interesting to see that on the GFS 12Z at T54 the depression heading north towards Iceland has been modelled as a lot deeper than on the 06Z. I'm no expert but surely this must have an effect down the line...
-
T+168 still looking quite promising. Azores high placement is a little flatter but cold still streaming down from the north.

Well what a nice surprise, ended up being around 4-5 inches here just south of Norwich. The snow continued on and off until around 4-4:30. I didn't expect this much, superb!!
