Whether one believes man made climate change is real or not, in the West it is being used to try to bring in basically totalitarian or even fascist policies.
If we do not row back on the insane "Net zero" soon, the UK will experience frequent power outages, food shortages even famines, and extreme poverty within the next 5-10 years.

This has truly been a dire winter for anything remotely wintery. Worst one I can remember TBH.

Looks like we got ourselves another cold chase over the coming week looking at todays models!
Lets hope the chaser messes up for once and we get through to the proverbial final for a change!

Another roller coaster will it wont it be really cold/snowy. I love the drama but hate the effect on my life expectancy! I have seen this every year since I joined Netweather.
I dont remember a single good freeze up that was modelled 7-10 days out and just happened without drama, setbacks and highs and lows!
This one feels like it could be a good freeze up, as the PV is more disturbed than I usually see!
I am no expert though even after 15 years of Netweather and reading countless tutorials, I just enjoy rare weather and this amazing forum!

Cracking storm moving through very fast. Seriously strong wind gusts for 5 mins too!

Just had the 3rd and heaviest storm of the day, only lasted about 20 minutes but had 2 VERY close lightning strikes with instant thunder. Love it

Here in NW London, I would give it 9/10 for cold, 1/10 for snow, and 0/10 for enjoyment.
Total let down. Worst ever fail TBH.
A whole week of serious cold, easterly winds for 4 days straight, but not even 1cm of snow.

This situation reminds me of many during the 1980s. Day after day being told by the BBC cold will be pushed aside by the atlantic, and them a day or 2 before, it switches.
The situation now from todays models could still easily switch and go full on cold.

I think I saw a comment earlier, about commenting on the models and sticking to what they show in this thread. But the fun for me is viewing all the outputs and then working out where the information they provide can be used in a constructive way to predict a slightly different outcome that is equally feasible with the help they provide. Hence when you see a ( double) amplification scenario that the models pick up on, it is logical to adjust this to suggest a different scenario that is reasonable but not showing yet.
Still a long way to go, but round two a strong likelihood imo
Im pressing like as you are an expert, and I really hope you are right !!!

Lets hope the scandi high can build next weekend. This is a one in 10 year chance, possibly 1 in 20 years during the coldest part of winter!!

Can I get the holy grail for NW london, snow cover that completely covers the grass. Not seen it in years.
Cant complain, last weeks snow was better than the 5 preceding years, even if it only lasted 12 hours before becoming a slush puppy

In the 1980s I lost count of the number of times a breakdown from the West never made it to London, or better made it, stalled and dumped copious snow for hours on end.
We can hope that the current setup can do it again Thurs/Fri

GFS 12z still dialling in an F10 Bomb for Thursday, support from the Jet Stream is also amplified from this mornings 06z run, MetO 12z also amplifying Thursday's Storm, but the Jet taking the Storm further east towards Denmark. I cannot recall a Storm of 950mb located over the North Sea in my 30+ years of Storm Tracking; Oct 87 and Jan 2007 being the most notable.
Would that cause a possible storm surge down the East coast, it looks frightening that chart!

Not strictly model related, but for the 1st time in god knows how many years, we might actually have some wintery weather in Jan or early Feb.
I literally cant remember the last time this happened lol

If I recall the effect from 2018 SSW kept being pushed back with the added pressure of it being end of season...
can anyone recall when the 2018 occurred please
That was a good one though, 10 days of proper freezing winter weather and much snow, even in March. If we get that this Jan, wow it would be quite a shock to many. We haven't had a really proper cold 2-3 week spell of weather in Jan or Feb since the 1980s.

Wow where did that come from. Full on storm with biblical rainfall out of nowhere. I actually took a pic of the sky when leaving my gym 30 mins ago as I though the clouds looked a bit moody, and that has turned into a huge storm right overhead. Never seen anything like it before. Crashing thunder, really lose lightening.

You should have an excellent view! Call me crazy but I'd prefer your location - none of the rain and still close lightning

WYorksWeather We dont need to do anything. Nothing we do in the UK will make even 1/1000000 of a degree difference, yet it will cause immense harm, poverty and deaths from said poverty!
Net Zero is all one big con IMO.
