    I am sitting here playing poker with curtains open and lights off with the rain bouncing off the windows but still no storm !!!

    Have seen some cracking storms down there when my gradparents used to live just outside Braintree(Rainford).

    The rain is pepping up again in NW England and Wales. Whether it will become electrical is another thing but it is teeming down. Also a nice area of cells just in the channel by the IOW.

    I am sitting here looking at the cell to the north of Chester hoping some further cells form as it will have gone by the time I get through the rush hour traffic. As to all those that have not had the storms the next few days offer ample opportunity and the unexpected storms are often the best rather than waiting and being disapointed.

    Is it just me or do things appear to be developing further west than anticipated earlier ie The showers breaking out to the North of the Isle of Wight.

    Convection already kicked off over the North Wales hills. It could be an interesting afternoon.

    Have just switched the BBC forecast on and after expecting a mainly dry and sunny day in the west they have now said that storms are likely which is a complete u-turn on the earlier forecast. Here's hoping !!

    Just had that storm overhead with seven decent strikes. Thunder shook the house and knocked out the satellite tv.

    As with Ste Prudence I recorded 33.5c today. Are these records for Merseyside ?

    Already at 21.8c with a light easterly breeze and a very warm though hazy sun. Humidity nudging 78% making it feel highly uncomfortable.
