use to live in shrewsbury and often we would miss out telford has that little bit of height on its side. Barriers are up in ironbridge for first time this winter.Thought Telford would see some snow, moved from there last summer. I do miss the weather, even though I've only moved 15 miles Telford seemed to have it's own micro climate

Currently light snow falling here

The rain is alot more intense than forecast currently. Dont think the press have seen the charts still hyping over snow for next week!

Not as much rain as originslly forecast snd sunday looks drier now too.
Distinctly underwhelming weather here overnight with a maximum gust of 49 mph and about a minutes worth of heavy rain mixed in with a general area of light to moderate rain.Currently there's a shower of rain and small hail so perhaps things will liven up a bit later today.

Any idea how much rain is forecast tonite/tomorrow. The media are going mad thought the main risk was coastal flooding?
-
There is some real beefy showers out in irish sea. Will prob die off over wales mind .
The forecast I saw this morning seemed to suggest an increasing risk of showers from mid-evening onwards. Best take a brolly if you're heading out for the celebrations, just to be safe. Bish

Sure they will appear to brag wen the snow comes :-)
Let's hope they don't split the thread into West and East like they did a year or two ago. It just didn't feel right somehow. Actually, where are all the East Midland posters this winter? Apart from the Derbyshire mob, we've hardly heard a squeak from them? Bish

Ironbridge road jackfield side of the river. That whole bank is moving 2m a year closer to the severn they say. Yea remember the last time was on smithfield been a while and 60-70m expected over next week!
Which road- the one from Shrewsbury/Leighton/Buildwas or Jiggers bank? Yes the Severn is very high here and much more rain in Wales would probably see Abbey Foregate, Coton Hill and Smithfield under water. It hasn't been up on Smithfield road since about 2008, despite all the wet summers here- it's the rain in mid-Wales that's important.

Always the same! Having said that the severn is very swollen with alot more rain comining over next 10 days could become interesing? You hear about the hole that opened up on ironbridge road the other day?
Thunder? Hail? Been sunny nearly all day here, although still windy. What is it about Shrewsbury/Telford and thunderstorms? It's like we're immune to them, it's ridiculous- that's about 10 times this year Birmingham has been hit while we got zip.

Was in shrewsbury before and thought the sameJust stuck my head out the window and could have sworn I heard a rumble in the direction of Wenlock.

Looks like a good collection coming shropshires way. Will prob break up as soon as it hits the border mind. Looking good for a warm day on thurs no mega breakdown on The way in the near future :-)
There is electrical activity in that lot too
-
Downgrade from meto tomorrow for thunder too :-(Well it rained hard for all of 2 minutes, not a single rumble. I remember the days when rain would suddenly intensify and you'd get a crash and flash at the same time...
-
Dry spot again why does shropshire always fail to get anything exciting????
-
Very distant but was nothing special . We were just on the edge i thinkdidnt you have one wednesday morning?
-
