Just had a huge downpour. Everything river-ised, sferics becoming widespread on the detector now too!
-
Been a fantastic few days here, non-stop downpours, some incredibly lively like early yesterday morning where it was thundering on and off from midnight until 9 in the morning! Some very, very deep rumbles of thunder that actually pushed stuff off my windowsills!
Here's a stack image from around 2am yesterday morning as a very lively storm pushed up the east side of the island providing a brilliant display!

Distant lightning over Irish sea to South west anyone Liverpool way should have a good view !!!!
What! :O I can't see any! The 76th storm I've missed this year...!
-
considering all the thunder symbols all over wales over the next few lm surprised there isnt any mention of thunder on the UKMO forecasts.
I agree. Taking a look at the GFS outputs of late, it doesn't look like the thunderstorms will be isolated either!
-
Very, very heavy downpours here. Can see flash flooding definitely being a problem tonight and into tomorrow. Garden looks like a swamp already!

Certainly looks to be an interesting front. Are the winds on the increase there? Also, I see speak of convective possibility with this front over on the Storm/Convective thread, I hope so.
They are slowly on the increase. Can hear the wind loud outside now. Hopefully, yes - with Tuesday looking like an interesting thundery day as it stands at the moment

Very windy here too. Can hear it starting to roar outside although airport only reporting 24mph winds, must be more where I am because of the elevation. I certainly look nicely sandwiched within the heaviest of the rain tomorrow though. Will report anything interesting as always.

Be quite interesting to see if there's any convective element within Friday PM expected cold front? Either way, could be a rather active feature in places so certainly worth keeping tabs on.
Certainly looks better than recent times. Plenty of energy and moisture swirling in off the Atlantic, perhaps initially hitting the warmer air fuelling potential storms as the initial cold front moves through.
After that things look rather exciting. Back to the autumnal 'sunshine and showers' layout, some heavy and thundery.

The computer says [issued 02/09/2014 15:16:59]
sorry, couldn't help it
Maybe it'll snow this Christmas.
Then again, maybe it won't snow this Christmas.
Then again, only 112 days for a few minor alterations in the current forecasts.

Real lively downpours here. Some light flash flooding looks a possibility. Roads were like rivers 10 minutes ago.

On holiday in the wonderful island of Skiathos at the moment. Thunderstorms have been forecast for a while now, on Friday and Saturday. Something striking has appeared on the Euro4 models. They show over 300mm of rain falling on Skiathos in two separate times. Surely this can't be right, is Skiathos in for thunder and how severe will it be...?

I hear CAPE and LI are on a two-for-one deal at the moment.
BOGOF, you're talking rubbish now!
Some very interesting, angry looking skies here all day. Some heavy showers about too. Tomorrow doesn't look like a bad shout for here though.
-
Something starting near the Wirral, struggling to get going though
EDIT: Rash of showers now breaking out across Wales, some already heavy.
-
Reports that Skiathos is getting pounded by some pretty heavy thunderstorms.
I'm off to Skiathos on Tuesday. Hoping for a tasty storm, even if it is a few miles away, just to get some photos! July is the least likely month to get one around Skiathos I believe, however some weather forecasts suggesting a bit of a breakdown during the middle of the holiday!

I dont think the Isle of Man ever looked at great risk tbh! I think the models have done a fantastic job here anyway, doing very well last night and today.
Hmm, the models showed the east coast of here to do very well up until yesterday morning where it all fell flat on its face. With the exception of a few (big.. okay) storms across the centre of the country and that Kent Clipper I feel that yesterday was completely over emphasised. I was expecting so much more of a display, even if it was only on radar!
Glad you got your fix anyway!

Well what an absolute load of crud this has been for almost everyone in the Northwest! I think everyone in the NW should plan a trip to tornado alley for next year...
-
Light rain galore here. As if we don't get enough of that through a year. Really hoping for something to give some thunder and lightning but now looks quite unlikely with all forecasts showing nothing over here today, a huge contrast to yesterday when all forecasts had everything over this way. I live in hope

Get the Bog-Cam on the go again! Stunning crawlers on this now. (Must be about the 2000th time I've posted this link today )

Noticed something incredibly interesting before. As a blanket of low cloud dissipated, it revealed a layer of high-level convective cloud which was thick enough to produce a couple of light showers. As the drops fell onto skin they felt gritty. A couple of drops landed on my laptop screen too and once evaporated and dried they left a deposit of tiny dry particles, which I can only assume is pollen and dust from high in the atmosphere, possibly from France and Spain which have been carried aloft over the last few days. Would also explain why there were many reports of 'yellow lightning' last night... Never seen anything like it before as there was so much powdery deposit left over from the drops, a fine layer on some objects in the garden!

Apologies if any of this has been posted before. Hard to keep up with the forum when its like this! People sat on the beach at Bognor Regis watching the thunderstorms come ashore.

Can't find a streaming webcam in Rouen unfortunately, however on the Eiffel Tower camera you can see a rather stunning Cb....

Very, very sultry here now. Clothes starting to stick just sat outside. Extremely heavy skies but no precipitation nearby. Apparently I'm due another storm around 7pm, but we shall see.
Lightning detector starting to go mental just west of Paris

You jinxed it yesterday saying you were going to get all the storms lol
It's okay. I've fixed it.
Notice the high quality, realistic graphics used.
Interesting that the GFS weather overview still doesn't have thunderstorms over the UK for tomorrow. It has been like that for the last few consecutive runs.. Strange but undoubtedly hard to believe.

Not this again... it is evident that the Met Office h.a.t.e the Isle of Man.....
