  1. Olympic summer 2012...consistently unsettled through June and most of July which strangely let up in time for the games and then became more unsettled again.
  2. Not really just an average month with a bit of everything thrown in...we had a poor 7/8 days a couple of weeks ago but we've had just as many warm sunny days as poor ones. Some rain with the odd cold day, a T-Storm (here) a few very warm days, breezy windy days, some sun...normal British fayre I'd say for June, and certainly not as bad as last year.
  3. Really!?! another personal opinion?....feels like summer has been going on for sometime thanks to the very sunny/dry April and May just that this month has been rather disappointing (certainly in relation to the previous months). One third through the season so nothing to be alarmed about.
  4. Just because it's cloudy and slightly cooler than average it doesn't make it feel like an Autumn day...maybe it does! as other than last year most Septembers and Octobers have felt partly like summer months as we know our autumns fall between November and February now days.
  5. So far been a pretty 'average' summer month - a bit of everything but not surprisingly another month above the CET series, currently this wind can do one!
  6. Yep! (here on the Essex coast) surprisingly had one roughly around 6am'ish which woke me up...steady rain a few flashes (lightning not me) and some loud overhead rumbles and bangs. Lasted about 20 minutes or so...
  7. There was me moaning yesterday that we wouldn't see any thundery activity and we had a decent cell pass over at about 6am - heavy rain, thunder and a few forks of lightning!....sadly no pictures of it as I was dead to the world.
  8. There's a surprise!...an increasing theme of recent years in breakdowns from hot conditions, and that is most of the thundery activity to be to the north or even Scotland - we'll see but I bet I'll just get the usual cloud and some rain in my location
  9. Starting to mirror June last year here in the south as it's raining here again...first few days warm and sunny but has gone down hill from there. Next week looks like settling down somewhat in a slack continental flow.
  10. Amazing how you have such an amazing memory for such insignificant things - who remembers such instances?...also an amazing reference to spring/summer months going back years and how you feel at certain temperatures. I bet you don't go out of your house when it gets below 12c
  11. Same here...just put a sweater on it's not that cold, as said before houses are designed to keep heat in and it never gets that cold in the summer to have to put the heating on (vague saying). Anyway let the moaning begin from those you expect to
  12. Yuck!...worse conditions than expected here on the coast of del Burnham, rain getting more consistent and somewhat heavier and only 13c!!. When are we going to have a decent T-Storm?
  13. Not quite the big temperature contrasts the Beeb talked about yesterday in today's forecast (here anyway)...touched nearly 21c here this morning compared to the 25c of yesterday and not much breeze to speak of.
  14. Why not?...more Springs months in my mind appear to he heading in the drier and sunny category and as we know certainly warmer.
  15. See today the ol' easterly wind is starting to pick up again...has been a cycle of this happening throughout this spring (mainly April onwards). Quieter period sunny, breezier period sunny, quieter period sunny, breezier period sunny and so on, the only difference was last week it was from the west but the same theme sunny and dry...even with the upcoming pattern change that northerly doesn't scream rain here.
  16. Agree but lawns and long grass fields soon stop growing and turn brown very quickly once the heat is turned up...I've watered my front lawn a couple of times in the last week but now starting to show the fore-mentioned signs, anyway can't remember too many years in May when this has happened. Will be interesting to see the state of play come end of June...if and a big if the weather continues in the same vain.
  17. Trying to remember the last time we had a 'bad' Spring/Summer Bank Holiday? - it feels like we don't get them anymore. Beautiful day here...
  18. A few spots of rain (trace) from a pathetic attempt from a shower an hour ago...I suppose that will be the lot for the next couple of weeks.
  19. I've got £50 of my hypothetical money says it won't, as for March being wet yes remember that and the start of April must of been unsettled too but the chart for May 2018 rainfall is a bit baffling, near normal, really?...can't remember much precipitation where I lived at all and a lot of sunshine. I wonder how accurate these MetO maps are? I know where I live is near to the driest place in the UK (St Osyth) and at times wonder if we have our own micro-climate particularly when it comes to rainfall.
  20. You're telling me a front went through? really?...a bit of cloud here now sunny/breezy and you must have been in the sweet spot for rain this month, the majority have seen less than that - currently 1.5mm in my local.
  21. Spring 2018 wetter than average in the south east?...all I can remember is largely sunny skies particularly in later April and May.
  22. In other words they (BBC (MeteoGroup) and no doubt others) were not very accurate, trying to predict convectional activity is precarious a few days in advance.
  23. Well an incredible spring so far if you like sun and a fair share of warm/very warm days but to be honest the absolute lack of any convectional stuff does make the weather a bit boring to follow - today's threat of convectional stuff wasn't even worth mentioning by forecasters over the last few days.
  24. Well so much for the thunderstorm threat...wasn't even worth mentioning on the BBC forecast yesterday. I've counted 1 day with a decent convection heavy shower/T-storm threat this spring and that's it, just feel like our weather is getting less varied.
  25. Looks like a repeat of 2018 could be on the cards...although there has been some nippy days this month. Now we've seen somewhat of a pattern change with more of an Atlantic direction to the wind it should mostly be off a warm/very warm Tm in the coming days.
