  1. Because there is consistent low pressure everywhere in the Atlantic...omnipresent low pressure near Iceland/Greenland, you're never going to get any depth of cold with LP always in that vicinity. Also noticed the North Atlantic SST profiles is cold again which has been the case since 2013, we really need the area south of Greenland to Iceland to be warmer than average which sometimes alludes to heights being set up.
  2. Wow! talk about a difference, here on the Essex coast haven't recorded a single air frost all winter for the 1st time!
  3. No we haven't had plenty of cold days!! (and by that sounds like you're talking about your location)...you might 'feel' cold@sunny76 but the reality says and by that I mean statistics which back up what the UK average max and min temperatures are. Most British winters can feel cold due to wind, rain falling but going by averages we have had very few cold days. February only had 1 colder day than average (27th)... If you don't want to feel cold I suggest moving to the Mediterranean...or hold on here as our winters are getting increasingly warmer.
  4. Wrong forecast, last night forecast had this rain skirting along the channel coasts...so we now have another dreadful day to look forward to. The last 6 months seem like an ongoing meteorological nightmare!
  5. Dreadful!...I've been recording winters since 1983/84 and it's the first one I haven't recorded an air frost. Similarities with the poor 2013/14 winter, almost as wet (February wetter), windy at times and milder than that winter. So it has to go down in the top 2 for poorness.
  6. I wouldn't bet on it...the way winters have been going since 2013.
  7. I was top last winter (for the winter quarter)...and 7th this year, December did me over, I got carried away with the last minute mumblings on here of a coldish December and should have stuck to my guns and put my CET down about .0.5c.
  8. Crazy indeed!...I recorded my wettest February (just short of 70mm), so much for the QBO trending into an easterly phase!
  9. A winter to forget like 2013/14 but unfortunately will stick in our heads for the wrong reason.
  10. Let me remind you we do not live in the Mediterranean and we have the vast Atlantic to the west which holds a lot of moisture and has always been the way of the UK's climate, but of recent summers we haven't always experienced Tm air but also drier Cm air at times due to the increasing presence of high pressure to the south... and by the way you're talking as if every August is poor which again is not the case in our part of the world.
  11. 1 final day of this god awful 'winter' to go...sadly I've got a feeling it's going to continue like this for a couple or so weeks, let it stop!
  12. What an absolute load of rubbish!...certainly if you live in the south or south east of England you know this simply isn't true, since approximately 2013 give the odd exception (usually Augusts and last summer June) our summers have improved to a degree.
  13. Not quite, we're getting an extra winters day as it's a leap year (aren't we lucky) so expect more rain and wind in the final 2 days, and yes as the Fast Show use to say this winter has been 'a load of ole boll@x'...
  14. Looks like Dunstable, Chilterns/north of London was the sweet spot, majority only saw some wet snow falling. Sun is out and again temperatures almost up to normal, 7.5c currently.
  15. It's hardly cold buddy...again in the sun temperatures rise quite easily, 7.5c currently - just slightly cooler than normal!
  16. Seen one of two wet flakes in the mix but that's about it, good to see some places getting a 'slushy dusting' a term I've seemed to use a lot over the last few winters other than the BFTE spell but personally can't wait to see this winter over! by the way models look disgusting, rain, rain, rain.
  17. and still the low pressure systems keep on coming, when will it stop?...as for any snow, I'm not holding my breath.
  18. God! please let this 'winter' end, relentless wind, cloud, rain and mild if not very mild temperatures - pathetic.
  19. Why on earth can't we get high pressure form other than at the Azores or over Europe!?!...all I see is low pressure everywhere to the north and west or over us even when there is not a rampant jet!...warmer North Atlantic? (2018/19 winter also the case).
  20. Beaten yesterday...has gotten up to 14.8c and that wind now is getting on my nads!
  21. I wouldn't take too much notice...rough theme looks very disturbed and muddled with somewhat of a jet stream taking a southerly course (in layman's terms).
  22. Latest model runs (both ecm/gfs) look very muddled with the jet stream on more of a southerly course and trying to build heights at times to the north or northeast but low pressure largely in charge and a theme of getting colder, but generally a disturbed outlook (for a change).
  23. Nearly 14c max here today in the winds, and the mild weather goes on and on, coldest day so far this month a feeble 8.1c
  24. Charts (ECM) starting to look like they did back in November and that's a mess of low pressures on somewhat of a southerly jet stream which will probably equate to chilly conditions and rain...oh joy!
  25. Yes shower passed through earlier and some spectacular clouds against the sunset...
