  1. Managed to get home from work amongst the Cg's, hail and torrential rainfall in time to get the DSLR out and shoot this beatiful display of mammatus in HDR mode. I would of preferred a better backdrop than the suburbs of East London, but hey - Big mamma wasn't waiting for me - she dissapeared as quickly as she arrived :)

  2. You can't include rural areas in a congestion charge, it's not your choice where you live, if you've been brought up in the rural area, all your family in a rural area etc.

They would lose all charecter and turn into old peoples and rich peoples playgrounds.

I live at least 5 miles from the nearest semi-decent shop, the bus service doesn't operate before 10.15am, therefore I need my car, unless you don't think I have a right to live where I've been brought up, grew up etc.

Hey matt, you could cycle :)

  3. I agree with this (I've been much exercised about that pernicious little bill to exempt MPs from FOI the so and so's are trying to sneak in so I should do) but...how do we deal with more and more cars and the congestion and pollution they produce?

Thats easy Peter, more research needs to go into alternative fuels, i.e ethanol based and hydrogen.

Theres always going to be congestion, people will always choose to use their own car instead of dirty/late/crime ridden/expensive public transport.

  4. Yes! It was just timing out because your in built firewall on the router was stopping incoming requests to that port.

Windows firewall or ZoneAlarm should pop up for you to allow it, but with routers you usually have to select the port manually.

  5. Ok, the port on your router must still be blocked for incoming requests.

Find out what port the webcam is streaming too, maybe (8000) and go into your router settings and look for something like Firewall - Virtual servers and add an entry to allow the port that your cams using.

Mines a Belkin but you get the idea, i.e

  6. The best way to set it up is to have someone else on another pc trying the web address of your cam, which will be your ip address with http:// in front of it.

The port that you set the cam up on, i.e 8000 may have to be allowed on your router, but that shouldn't take more than a few mins to do.

If you have any problems, post them in this thread and between us we can sort it :cold:

  7. Hi all, having tried various software i still havent found any decent software for direct streaming my webcam (i.e in windows media or though java). I go through a router which may proove tricky, but if any of you can help it will be greatly appriciated.

    Cheers :cold:

(p.s, using a netgear router, and the webcam is an old Sony Digital8 hooked into the usb)

Simple cam is a free live streaming webcam applet, which will stream directly from your pc.
