  1. looks like wales will miss the exciting snow this weekend as it'll all be in the SE of England (and my inlaws so don't deserve it ) but if we do get any next week I guess what we need are for the temps to stay bitterly cold and for the snow not to be preceded by hours of flipping rain ! Sunday/ Monday was so frustrating, solid snowfall from 6pm Sunday night until 12pm Monday and still nothing more than a dusting on the mountains !!!
  2. lol thats the same mountain i can see from my house (albeit I'm looking at the other side ) and yes it has a really good covering. We're in Sneggy itself and theres nothing on the ground. The valley Is 200m asl (I think ) and the mountain 300m or so ? The 100m obviously makes a difference !!
  3. still snowing in Sneggy, settled on the hills and a very light powdering on some of the cars and roofs but absolutely nothing on the road, pavement or street level !! And its been going since 6pm last night ! Unbeleivable ! I guess it was just too wet and not quite cold enough ??
  4. Its snowed solidly all night and . . . . nothing. None of it has settled on the road Or pavement. A very light powdering on the cars , even less on the roofs. A light covering on the hills but no more than a dusting . How on earth can it snow all night and none of it settle !! This is exactly what happened just before Christmas. Utterly bizarre.
  5. yn wir ! Mae'n anodd i deall weithiau. Dwi'n cofio Rhagfyr 2010. Roedd y tywydd yn ardderchog !! Indeed. Its hard to understand sometimes. I'm just remembering December 2010. Fantastic weather !! I'm guessing everything was just perfect at that point In time . . .
  6. still sleeting/light snow, nothing sticking. Ground is too wet. Exactly the same thing happened just before Christmas (when I bought the cursed sledge lol ), MET gave an amber warning, rained all day, turned to snow in the evening, snowed all night but not a single flake settled (except on the hills around the valley ). I guess this is because the Atlantic Is just too strong ? Being a weather newbie I'm still trying to get my head around it all . . .
  7. the sum total of "snow " in Sneggy is approximately half a centimentre of slush on the cars. If only it had started as snow (as everywhere was dry this Morning ) and carried on as snow we'd have about 2 foot of the stuff by now. I guess it just wasn't cold enough.
  8. it was me sorry, last time they forecast snow (just before Christmas), I gave into temptation and bought a sledge for my little boy, as they had a big pallet Of them for £10 each in ASDA. I resisted the temptation to get a snow shovel as well, but I think the damage had already been done . . . .
  9. Have just walked down to the shop to console myself with a bag of haribo. E ven if it snowed all night now it wouldnt stick to the wet ground. Snow now turning back to rain. Better pack my little boys lunch for tommorrow!
  10. Ok just stuck my head out of the door and theres a light powdery snow coming down over Sneggy now with a slight sleetiness. Very small amount starting to accumulate on the cars but everything is so soaked with the six solid hours of rain and drizzle weve had that i cant for the life of me see it settling. Feels very cold.
  11. Rain in senghenydd even though were not far from Ponty. Ground now too wet for it to settle. Am so confused! Not to mention disappointed. Oh how i hate this winter!
  12. not sure whats going on in Caerphilly as I think we're in the yellow zone at least (possibly amber, not sure from the metoffice map !) but all we've had for the Past few hours hs been drizzle. Its cold though. Hubby going to work in Tonypandy tonight, not sure If theres anything up there yet. I am so praying for snow but I'm a bit worried it will just do what it did before christmas . . . the rain turned to snow and it kept falling all night but the ground was so wet from the previous rain that none of it stuck !! : (
  13. incredibly cold in caerphilly tonight, really biting air. I have a feeling something good is on its way . . > .
  14. Is it worth breaking out the sledge that i impulse bought for my little boy in asda just before christmas last time they promised us snow? Ive kind of regretted it since as it felt like Id jinxed the winter! I want a serious snow in like we had in December 2010. C ouldnt get out of our street for a week!
  15. hi everyone, long time lurker/newbie posting here for the first time, and praying for some of the cold stuff to settle just outside of Caerphilly ! Dwi eisiau EIRA MAWR !!
