Not a lot of hope for storms here today going by the bbc forecast, but please can we have rain, garden looking desperate
Just 2.5mm of rainfall here in North Staffs this Month! I was hoping for an April record here, but looks like next week will balance the books a bit..

Wrf nmm on meteociel has theta-e charts the 2km is highest resolution and you can use the wind charts to look for convergence zones also you can zoom into different areas of uk.
looks like some elevated rainfall into the sw overnight tonight, there is some cape over Wales today but lack of a trigger. Both SBCAPE and MUCAPE across wales tomorrow and a front could see some storms will see what the runs later show and might pick a virtual target zone
Cheers for this! Fri-Sat does look better, mostly frontal though so maybe some elevated interest. Just 0.8mm of rainfall for April so far... whatever happened to April showers..!?

Can anyone recommend a good place to find UK Theta-e, Streamlines (convergence and divergence) maps? Lightning Wizard convective maps are really good, but a higher resolution for the UK would be really useful! Thanks!

A covering of snow in Newcastle-Under-Lyme. Settling on cars, roofs and now the road.
GFS has been on this all week, but the MO wasn’t keen!

FInally an Easterly shift on the streamer, getting some decent showers here in Newcastle Under Lyme- up to 2-3cm now.

Any chance of the winds shifting to include Stoke in the showers?
Thats what I'm hoping for too! We're just on the edge of it all. But there is a chance overnight into tomorrow the winds will shift ever to slightly to the North West, so that might encourage the streamer to move more South Easterly. Here's hoping!

What do you class as the NW Midlands?
Probably the Staffordshire area? Just quoting the MO

Im sure you will be fine. The wording is also very interesting. It now says Areas could expect 10-20cm including NW Midlands. thats been added on during its update which means more heavy showers are expected.
*Perhaps* the NW Midlands

12z gfs great synoptics, but I suspect leading us up the 'arctic path' once again. t200+ still very much in FI

Finally looks like that horizontal front is clearing. River levels have been on the rise again this evening.. lots more rain in the forecast too!

I don't think this weekends storm will be much to talk about. It begins to fill quite far West of the UK before riding the Jet over us again. We'll see, charts are all over the place at this stage

Do we know if there are any implications of an active Atlantic in Autumn regarding the Winter months?

Anybody got ideas what is causing this persistent ridging pattern over NW Europe? I'm not complaining, just seems unusual.
