Daily Mirror says today going to be 2 and half inches to fall over cumbria this evening.Plus it says the only areas escape snow is west wales and south west england. What a joke.

I was disappointed this morning. Atleast I been watching snow coming down last night to make the most of it.
I dont think It be snow again until 2-3 weeks later. I think there is just one more cold spell to fit the gap and then onto spring, maybe a odd storm or two to cheer me up. I did see an odd tangent arc. I dont know what that means though.

stopped snowing here now so thats it for tonight I guess. ppn on rain today radar is fizzling out over the north west. Why do always the snow comes east side of the Pennines not this side? I do not know.
The radar has to be wrong.

The winter is not over yet and I not giving up just yet. Next cold spell is on first half of March. Im not giving up until end of March.Yes summer is that bit of the year where it's light when you go to bed and light when you get up again.
Occasionally it coincides with a day or so of dry, warm weather although, due to austerity measures these have been removed from all of the north of England for the next few years.
Why, have you got a fetish for downgrades and disappointment.

This is not fair.We seem to be in a shadow, the Pennines to the East and Peak district hills to the south east preventing any wintry stuff reaching our parts.
May as well bulldoze them.

you should move to the North-East US its got plenty of snow there.its quite amusing gfs12z has temps at 18:00 of 3 and 4deg across the south east and generally just above freezing across the north west,its raining here(at 640ft) and snowing in the south east.
i love the north west england,really i don't...

The colder air is coming up to us by 7pm you wont be complaining as much.What a crock of s**t! How is Maidstone in Kent as well as many parts of the south east getting snow and all its doing here is p**sing it down?!?! I give up I really do.

alot of members in the south east is reporting snow right now. One of them says the rain had turned to snow very quickly.
Update: quite a few Midlands members reporting sleet/snow now.

I wish I moved to Boston, USA right now never mind yorkshire and the midlands. It is only a dusting compared to Boston.

(sighs) dont say that. it makes snow lovers feel grumpy.Updated Met O. forecast for this evening is less than inspiring and just about sums up the general downgrades which have taken place over the last couple of days.
TBH today's forecast has been quite accurate for the region with a wintry mix and any snow confined to higher ground. It is the next stage of more widespread snow this evening which is now looking less likely to occur although things are still subject to change.

I have seen frost under cloud cover now and again in Winter. It is quite a rare affair though. It depends how high the elevation is. If the mountains that poke through the clouds it maybe gets frosty at times in winter not always.
Update: It is not snowing in London just yet. It is still raining over there.

My weather app had me down snow from 8pm onwards.
The wind needs to pick up fast to get snow. It did that in New York while it got hit by a winter storm Nemo 2 days ago.

It did it this time last year with icicles forming while it raining.I don't think it will be a freezing rain event. I have never heard of it staying as rain but the surface freezes when it had been above freezing to start with. Never.
Freezing rain event is still an option.

when I leave Preston a hour ago it is 2C touching 3C over there. But here it is 4C. By the temp the rain may turn to snow as the sun sets.
If it doesnt snow tonight it be a freezing rain event anyway so it will be treacherous on the roads with black ice and possible ice sheets and icicles anywhere. It is certainly heading that way at this rate.
It seems the cold air is not long way off.

Its 3C here in leyland according to my weather app and it is raining. oh dear.

Just leapt outside and it is raining with some flakes mixed in already. I must admit its gone colder outside.

The BBC weather put me down light snow from 11am then heavy snow from 3pm then turning back to sleet/rain by 5pm.
Repeat of 3 fridays ago perhaps?
